,istress calls$ distress essages and distress counications are$ in principle$ preceded by thedistress signal =C,C (repeated three ties#.

The distress signal indicates that a ship$ an aircra&t or any other 'ehicle is e*posed to a seriousand iinent danger and asks &or iediate assistance.

The handling o& distress counication is sub/ect to the pro'isions o& the Radio Regulations.

(b# 8ergency essages

8ergency essages are preceded by the eergency signal PN PN (repeated three ties#.

The eergency signal announces that the radio station calling has to transit an eergencyessage concerning the sa&ety o& a ship$ an aircra&t$ any other 'ehicle or a person.
