JCB wheeled loaders are designed to work hard. Exceptionally hard. At the

heart of every machine in the range is impressive power: this from either a

JCB, Deutz or Cummins engine. All develop excellent torque at low engine

speeds and offer proven reliability, and low noise and exhaust emissions.

The result is powerful, productive performance, year in, year out.

All the w he ele d l oad ers in the c ompac t r ang e f eat ur e h yd ros tat ic

transmissions for ease of operation, allowing the speed of the machines to

be matched precisely to the application and ensuring optimum machine

efficiency. An inching pedal also enables progressive disengagement of

the transmission for precise movements even whilst operating at maximum

engine revs.

The axles used on the 406 and 409 compact wheeled loaders incorporate

inboard wet disc brakes for superior braking performance and reduced

maintenance. Limited slip differentials are available on all models apart fromthe 403. This, combined with an oscillating centre pivot area, keeps all four

wheels grounded maintaining traction and productivity.

On our larger wheeled loading shovels (from the 411 upwards), JCB fully

automatic powershift transmissions give you the necessary tractive effort f or

work ing in t he t ough est con diti ons. Plu s, th e au tomatic tran smi ssio n

accurately matches the engine speed to the application, maintaining

optimum fuel efciency at all times.

Limited slip differentials are optional across all larger models for efcient

transmission of power to the non-slipping wheel in arduous conditions. You

can also opt for the JCB smoothride system, which improves productivity

by enabling the machine to work faster over rough terrain and enhancing

operator comfort.

For high breakout, the Z-bar design (on 426 upwards) provides pure powerand productivity to suit extraction applications where arduous tasks call for a

more specialised workhorse. The high torque (HT) loader end featuring

4-ram geometry (3-ram on 406 and 409) with an integrated quickhitch is

available on all machines. This enables safe operation of a wide range of

attachments for a whole host of applications. In addition, on large wheeled

loading shovels we offer a wide range of loader arm congurations.

Parallel lift is also a feature of our HT design, which delivers formidable

power with the added benet of extra visibility over the load. This makes

HT machines ideal tool carriers and they are available in a range of variants:

standard height, high lift (426 and 436) and super high lift. The 456ZX

comes with a high-lift loader-end option for applications where high tearout

and loadover height are key.

But no matter which conguration you choose, thanks to the JCB quickhitch

system you can t an extensive range of attachments to your JCB wheeled

loader, hugely increasing its versatility and realising its f ull potential.

When it comes to versatilit y another inc redible performer i s the 2-tonne

403. This compact, manoeuvrable and extremely useful little machine

feature s a 0.3 cubic metre shovel and 2180mm (7' 2" ) dump he ight f or

shifting loads in no time. And its ability to nip in and out of restricted buildings

and sites makes it absolutely indispensable.

Todays working conditions demand more productivity from both machine

and operator. With our new, best-in-class wheeled loading shovel cabs (not

available on the 403), thats exactly what you get.

Getting into the cab, angled, well-positioned steps, along with perfect ly

placed grab rails and a wide door, give easy, safe access. Once inside you get

an immediate sense of space and comfort, and the unsurpassed visibility

soon becomes apparent. Air conditioning (optional) and multiple positive

ltration options ensure a cool, clean and healthy air supply. Plus, all wheeled

loading shovel cabs incorporate isolation systems which act to eliminate

vibrations from the en gine, tra nsmission a nd loader end, lowerin g in-c ab

vibration and noise levels.

As with all JCB cabs, the controls are ergonomically positioned for the most

comfortable and intuitive operation. Single or multi-lever joystick controls

are available to suit your preferences (411-456 only), while joystick-mounted

forward/reverse control simplies loading cycles. All larger, powershift models

also offer the added benet of a JCB Electronic Monitoring System (EMS).

This keeps the operator fully informed of machine conditions and automatically

shuts the machine down if any of these deteriorate.

In addition to all this, the large glass area and optional loader-end congurations

give superb all-round visibility for added accuracy and on-site safety.

tests in the business to ensure that every single component has been pushed

to its limit.

A prime example of this is the best-in-class articulation joint on all compact

wheel ed lo ading shovel mo dels, which is teste d to an impress ive o ne

million cycles.

In fact, all major fabrications in every machine we develop are worked to

the equi valent o f 10 ye ars stre nuous s ervice for str uctural integri ty and

component longevity.

Finished prototypes are then scrutinised in an envi ronmental chamber. This

involves freezing them in sub-zero conditions, before heating them to

scorching temperatures. As a result, the nished article offers consistently

high performance, whether working in Antarctica or Death Valley.

Its all part of our commitment to providing only the best. Even after all tests

have been completed, we wont launch a product until prototypes have

been strategically placed in real-life working situations that will push them to
