Requires a compatible license server installed IBM Rational License Server Telelogic 2.0.0

IBM Rational License Server 8.0

RPE licenses are floating or user based

RPE does not support node locked licenses


Configuring the license – Fresh Install

During the installation provide the license server information in the license screen. Enter the value in the “license server” field and not in the file field.

The license text must be in the form <port>@<host>

RPE 1.1.1 removes the possibility of selecting a file based license


Configuring the license – RPE already installed

Follow this procedure if RPE is already installed and the licensing is not correctly configured

modify the TELELOGIC_LICENSE_FILE environment variable to contain this value only 19353@YOUR_LICENSESERVER_NAME

edit the registry and under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\FLEXlm License Manager change the value of TELELOGIC_LICENSE_FILE to 19353@LICENSESERVER_NAME

reboot ( optional)

start the License Tools from IBM Rational Start menu entry and start the Telelogic service

check if IBM Rational Document Studio starts successfully

LICENSESERVER_NAME must be your server’s symbolic name. It cannot be localhost or 127.0.0.1.


User based licensing

User based feature

The users must be defined in a separate configuration file. The configuration file must be explicitly set in the license file

DAEMON telelogic "C:\Program Files\Telelogic\Tools\Licensing_11\Server\telelogic.exe" "c:\telelogic\license\telelogic_user_based.opt“

The configuration file must list the users for the user based feature

INCLUDE RPE_PUBLISH:VERSION=2009.1230 USER spurlos

INCLUDE RPE_PUBLISH:VERSION=2009.1230 USER gauss

The version number from the configuration file must match the version number from the license file ( see in blue)

For the same feature both user based and floating features can be present. The user based should be listed first in the license file.
