YOU CAN WATCH THIS PRESENTATION IN MUSIC HERE: (You have a link on the first slide) http://www.authorstream.com/Presentation/sandamichaela-1327146-piccadilly-st/ Thank you Piccadilly Circus is a famous road junction and public space of London's West End in the City of Westminster, built in 1819 to connect Regent Street with the major shopping street of Piccadilly. In this context, a circus, from the Latin word meaning "circle", is a round open space at a street junction. St James's is an area of central London in the City of Westminster. It is bounded to the north by Piccadilly, to the west by Green Park, to the south by The Mall and St James's Park and to the east by The Haymarket. St James's is also the home of many of the best known gentlemen's clubs in London, and is sometimes, though not as often as formerly, referred to as "Clubland".

St. James’s Church

Dintre numeroasele biserici proiectate de Christopher Wren aceasta a fost lucrarea favorită. Distrusă pe jumătate de o bombă în 1940, îşi păstrează totuşi trăsăturile iniţiale din 1684

St James’s Church, Piccadilly is an Anglican church on Piccadilly in the centre of London; was designed and built by Sir Christopher Wren and was consecrated on 13 July 1684. The church was severely damaged by enemy action in 1940, during the Second World War

The Burlington Arcade is a covered shopping arcade in London that runs behind Bond Street from Piccadilly through to Burlington Gardens.

It is one of the precursors of the mid-19th century European shopping gallery and the modern shopping centre. The arcade was built to the order of Lord George Cavendish, to prevent passers-by throwing oyster shells and other rubbish over the wall of his home.

a fost construit pentru Henric VIII la sfârşitul anului 1530, pe locul unui fost spital pentru leproşi

Portalul dinspre strada St. James este în stil Tudor

Pentru puţină vreme a fost reşedinţă regală principală

Although no sovereign has resided there for almost two centuries, it has remained the official residence of the Sovereign and the most senior royal palace in the UK. For this reason it gives its name to the Royal Court (the "Court of St James's“)

Wellington Arch, also known as Constitution Arch or (originally) the Green Park Arch, is a triumphal arch located to the south of Hyde Park in central London and at the north western corner of Green Park (although it is now isolated on a traffic island). The arch, and Marble Arch to the north of Hyde Park, were both planned in 1825 by George IV to commemorate Britain's victories in the Napoleonic Wars.
