In Arges was conceived the most beautiful legendof the immortal construction - the one of MasterManole, where both the Romanian people and

 the feudal state Tara Romaneasca were founded,but also the place where it was edited the rst

document in Romanian, where the most famouskings of Wallachia had their residence and also theplace from which rose men of notes in elds like

history and culture of the Romanian people.

Nowadays, Arges continues the tradition of itsprecursors, developing the economy, the agricultureand the services provided for the population, butalso the spiritual life, being conserved as a distinctarea within Romania and being a connection

bridge between the past, the present and the future,between Romania and Europe.

Arges was and will remain one of the most impor tanthistory cradles of the Romanian people, of itsculture and spirituality, a county in which historyand intelligence have provided during the centuriesRomania’s prominent personalities.

Arges is situated within Romania’s rst four counties

in point of the economic growth and has realperspectives of carrying on with its development ina constant rhythm in all the elds of social life.

Arges County Council is the

authority of the local public

administration, constituted at the

county level, which coordinates

 the activities of the communal

and municipal councils, in view of

achieving the public services of

county interest.

Arges County is formed by

councillors chosen by means of

universal, equal, direct, secret and

freely expressed vote, within the

conditions established by the Law

regarding local elections.

Arges County Council has been

concerned during these years

with solving the citizens’ main

problems: the situation of the road

networks and county bridges, the

water supplying, gas supplying

and be as close as possible of the

citizens.
