MALACHIANDTHE TWO TEMPLE CLEANSINGS

In the cleansing of the temple, Jesus wasannouncing His mission as the Messiah, andentering upon His work. That temple, erected forthe abode of the divine Presence, was designed to

be an object lesson for Israel and for the world.From eternal ages it was Gods purpose that everycreated being, from the bright and holy seraph to

man, should be a temple for the indwelling of theCreator. Because of sin, humanity ceased to be atemple for God. Darkened and defiled by evil, theheart of man no longer revealed the glory of theDivine One. But by the incarnation of the Son ofGod, the purpose of Heaven is fulfilled. God dwellsin humanity, and through saving grace the heart ofman becomes again His temple. God designed thatthe temple at Jerusalem should be a continualwitness to the high destiny open to every soul. Butthe Jews had not understood the significance ofthe building they regarded with so much pride.They did not yield themselves as holy temples forthe Divine Spirit. The courts of the temple atJerusalem, filled with the tumult of unholy traffic,represented all too truly the temple of the heart,defiled by the presence of sensual passion andunholy thoughts.

In cleansing the temple from the worlds buyersand sellers, Jesus announced His mission tocleanse the heart from the defilement of sin,

Prin curirea templului, Isus i-a anunatmisiunea Sa mesianic i i-a nceput lucrarea.Templul acela, nlat pentru ca Domnul sslluiasc n el prin prezena Lui, avea ca scop sfie o nvtur vie pentru Israel i pentru lume.Scopul lui Dumnezeu din veacurile venice a fostca fiecare fiin creat, de la serafimul luminos i

sfnt pn la om, s fie un templu n care Creatoruls locuiasc. Din cauza pcatului, omul a ncetat smai fie un templu pentru Dumnezeu. Fiindntunecat i pervertit de rele, inima omului n-amai dat la iveal slava Celui Sfnt. Dar planulcerului a fost realizat prin ntruparea Fiului luiDumnezeu. Dumnezeu locuiete n corp omenesci, prin harul salvator, inima omului devine din noutemplul Su. Dumnezeu voia ca Templul dinIerusalim s fie o mrturie continu despre destinulnalt pus n faa fiecrei fiine. Dar iudeii n-au

neles nsemntatea cldirii la care priveau cuatta mndrie. Ei nu s-au consacrat pentru a fitemple sfinte ale Spiritului lui Dumnezeu. CurileTemplului din Ierusalim, pline de zgomot inegustorie nesfnt, reprezentau prea bine templulinimii, ntinat de prezena patimilor senzuale i degnduri nesfinte. Prin curirea templului decumprtorii i vnztorii lumii, Isus a fcutcunoscut misiunea Lui de a cura inima demnjirea pcatului de dorinele pmnteti, de

THREE HISTORIESThe prophet says, I saw another angel come

down from heaven, having great power; and theearth was lightened with his glory. And he criedmightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon thegreat is fallen, is fallen, and is become thehabitation of devils (Revelation 18:1, 2). This isthe same message that was given by the second

angel. Babylon is fallen, because she made allnations drink of the wine of the wrath of herfornication (Revelation 14:8). What is that wine?Her false doctrines. She has given to the world afalse sabbath instead of the Sabbath of the fourthcommandment, and has repeated the falsehood thatSatan first told Eve in Edenthe naturalimmortality of the soul. Many kindred errors shehas spread far and wide, teaching for doctrines thecommandments of men (Matthew 15:9).

When Jesus began His public ministry, He

cleansed the Temple from its sacrilegiousprofanation. Among the last acts of His ministrywas the second cleansing of the Temple. So in thelast work for the warning of the world, twodistinct calls are made to the churches. Thesecond angels message is, Babylon is fallen, isfallen, that great city, because she made all nationsdrink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication(Revelation 14:8). And in the loud cry of the thirdangels message a voice is heard from heavensaying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not

partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of herplagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, andGod hath remembered her iniquities (Revelation18:4, 5). Selected Messages, book 2, 118.

THE FIELDNEW FIELDSThus the message of the third angel will be

proclaimed. As the time comes for it to be givenwith greatest power, the Lord will work throughhumble instruments, leading the minds of thosewho consecrate themselves to His service. Thelaborers will be qualified rather by the unctionof His Spirit than by the training of literaryinstitutions. Men of faith and prayer will beconstrained to go forth with holy zeal, declaring thewords which God gives them. The sins of Babylonwill be laid open. The fearful results of enforcingthe observances of the church by civil authority, the

inroads of spiritualism, the stealthy but rapidprogress of the papal powerall will be unmasked.By these solemn warnings the people will be

Cnd Isus i-a nceput misiunea public de slujire, El a cur it Templul de lucrurile care l

profanau. Printre ultimele acte ale lucrrii Lui a fosta doua cr ire a Templului. Tot a a, n ultima lucrare de avertizare a lumii, dou chemridistincte sunt adresate bisericilor. A doua soliengereasc este: A czut, a czut Babilonul, cetateacea mare, care a adpat toate neamurile din vinulmniei curviei ei! (Apoc. 14:8). Iar n mareastrigarea a soliei ngerului al treilea, o voce esteauzit din cer spunnd: Apoi am auzit din cer unalt glas, care zicea: Ieii din mijlocul ei, poporulMeu, ca s nu fii prtai la pcatele ei i s nu fiilovii cu urgiile ei! CMPULNOI CMPURITot astfel va fi vestit i solia ngerului al

treilea. Cnd vine timpul ca ea s fie proclamat cucea mai mare putere, Dumnezeu va lucra prin unelteumile, conducnd minile acelora care se consacrslujirii Sale. Lucrtorii vor fi calificai mai multprin ungerea Duhului Su dect prin educaiadat de instituiile de nvmnt. The churchappeals to the strong arm of civil power, and, in thiswork, papists and Protestants unite. As themovement for Sunday enforcement becomesmore bold and decided, the law will be invokedagainst commandment keepers. They will bethreatened with fines and imprisonment, and somewill be offered positions of influence, and otherrewards and advantages, as inducements torenounce their faith. But their steadfast answer is:Show us from the word of God our errorthesame plea that was made by Luther under similarcircumstances. Pe msur ce lupta se extinde n domenii noi imintea oamenilor este atras ctre Legea lui

Dumnezeu, cea clcat n picioare, Satana se agit.Puterea care nsoete solia nu face dect s-i mniei mai mult pe aceia care se mpotrivesc.Conductorii spirituali vor face eforturi aproapesupraomeneti pentru a ndeprta lumina ca s nulumineze peste turma lor. Prin toate mijloacele pecare le au la dispoziie, vor ncerca s interzicdiscutarea acestor probleme vitale. Biserica va faceapel la braul cel mai puternic al puterii civile i

papistaii i protestanii se vor uni n aceastlucrare. Pe msur ce micarea pentruimpunerea duminicii devine mai ndrznea imai hotrt, va fi chemat n ajutor legea

mpotriva celor ce pzesc porunca a patra. Ei vorfi ameninai cu amenzi i nchisoare, iar unora levor fi oferite poziii cu influen i alte beneficii iavantaje, cu condiia s renune la credina lor. Darrspunsul lor statornic va fi: Artai-ne dinCuvntul lui Dumnezeu rtcirea noastr, acelairspuns pe care l-a dat i Luther n mprejurriasemntoare. Aceia care sunt tri naintea

tribunalelor aduc o puternic susinere a adevrului,iar unii care aud sunt condui s ia poziie pentrupzirea tuturor poruncilor lui Dumnezeu. n felulacesta, lumina va fi adus multor mii de suflete carealtfel n-ar putea cunoate nimic despre acesteadevruri. Tragedia veacurilor, pag. 605606.
