Muntele Montserrat se află la cca 30 km de Barcelona. Vârful Saint Jérôme, cel mai înalt, depăşeşte 1000 de metri. Mănăstirea care o adăposteşte pe Fecioara Maria, numită de catalani «Moreneta» se află pe o terasă la altitudinea de 700 metri. Distrusă de armata napoloniană a fost reconstruită în sec XIX. Fecioara din Monserrat este patroana Catalaniei din 1881.

Montserrat is a multi-peaked mountain located near the city of Barcelona, in Catalonia. The main peaks are Sant Jeroni (1,236 m), it is well-known as the site of the Benedictine abbey, Santa Maria de Montserrat, which hosts the Virgin of Montserrat sanctuary and which is identified by some with the location of the Holy Grail in Arthurian myth.Montserrat is a Benedictine Monastery, founded in the 11th century. The Montserrat mountains provide a mystical backdrop for the Virgin of Montserrat, the patron saint of Catalonia, who is worshiped at the shrine in the monastery’s Royal Basilica.
