Pe masura ce dialogul nostru se infiripa, imi placea tot mai mult sa lungim vorba. Era foarte civilizat, nu mi-a spus nimic jignitor, absolut nimic… As zice ca mi-a facut curte, eu aflandu-ma cocotata sus, pe Everest, la 8550 metri inaltime, iar el jos, la poalele muntelui. De altfel nici nu s-a prezentat. Cica daca va insemna ceva pentru mine, soarta o sa iaba grija sa ne revedem şi daca nu vom fi convinsi nici de asta data, ne vom intalni a treia şi a patra oara, cu alte cuvinte mereu. Aparent din intamplare, dar judecand mai profund lucrurile, din necesitate. Nici nu stiu cand am ajuns la destinatie, cand trecusera doua ore de drum. Parca am plutiti intr-un vis care m-a desprins de realitate. Tu, n-am vazut nimic din peisajul care fugea indarat, nu-l vedeam decat pe domnia-sa, sprancenatul, umplandu- mi toata fiinta. Dar, sa stii, m-am tinut tare ca piatra. Pacat ca el, în cele din urma, s-a muiat ca o carpa. Nu-l mai tineau curelele sufletesti sa joace pana la sfarsit ispititorul joc al destinului. Cand a vazut ca plec, gata sa se dea în vileag, sa-mi spuna şi numele şi prenumele, la nevoie sa scoata şi buletinul de identitate. A alergat dupa mine, parca m-a strigat Ghiocela sau mi s-a parut, nu stiu bine. Insa partea buna e ca am disparut din lumea lui, ramanand mai departe anonima. Am facut bine? Conform statisticilor, concedierile, in Romania, se fac in majoritatea cazurilor pentru indisciplina, incompetenta, restructurare, dar indisciplina ramane principalul motiv. Oamenii sunt de cele mai multe ori angajati pentru cunostinte si priceperi si sunt concediati pentru atitudine. Fie ca angajatul la care organizatia vrea sa renunte a incalcat politica firmei, fie ca nu se ridica la standardele profesionale solicitate, incetarea activitatii trebuie sa se faca in conditii bune. Daca angajatul a gresit cu ceva sau a facut ceva ilegal, a consumat bauturi alcoolice sau droguri, a furat sau si-a hartuit un coleg, acesta ar trebui sa fie concediat imediat, chiar daca are deja vechime in cadrul companiei. Concedierea se petrece cel mai simplu daca problemele apar in primele zile de activitate. Atunci se poate renunta foarte usor si nu mai sunt necesare analize ale cauzelor comportamentului angajatului. In cazul in care salariatul nu se mai face util profesional, problema ar trebui serios analizata. Specialistii in resurse umane spun ca aceasta este cea mai dificila sarcina, deoarece angajatul trebuie sa inteleaga clar de ce se renunta la el, iar discutia trebuie sa fie una civilizata si intre patru ochi. Daca decizia este finala, nu mai exista loc nici de negocieri, nici pentru promisiuni de indreptare a situatiei si fiecare dintre cele doua parti va trebui sa traga propriile concluzii in urma acestei experiente si sa o utilizeze pe viitor, astfel incat sa fie evitate astfel de situatii.

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) is an inter-governmental body whose purpose is the development and promotion of policies, both at national and international levels, to combat money laundering and terrorist financing. The Task Force is therefore a "policy-making body" which works to generate the necessary political will to bring about national legislative and regulatory reforms in these areas.

The FATF monitors members' progress in implementing necessary measures, reviews money laundering and terrorist financing techniques and counter-measures, and promotes the adoption and implementation of appropriate measures globally. In performing these activities, the FATF collaborates with other international bodies involved in combating money laundering and the financing of terrorism.

The FATF does not have a tightly defined constitution or an unlimited life span. The Task Force reviews its mission every five years. The FATF has been in existence since 1989, and it has been agreed that its current mandate extends through the end of 2004. It will only continue to exist and to perform its function after this date provided the member governments agree that this is necessary.

History of the FATF

In response to mounting concern over money laundering, the Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering (FATF) was established by the G-7 Summit that was held in Paris in 1989. Recognising the threat posed to the banking system and to financial institutions, the G-7 Heads of State or Government and President of the European Commission convened the Task Force from the G-7 member States, the European Commission, and eight other countries.

The Task Force was given the responsibility of examining money laundering techniques and trends, reviewing the action which had already been taken at a national or international level, and setting out the measures that still needed to be taken to combat money laundering. In April 1990, less than one year after its creation, the FATF issued a report containing a set of Forty Recommendations, which provide a comprehensive plan of action needed to fight against money laundering.

During 1991 and 1992, the FATF expanded its membership from the original 16 to 28 members. Since then FATF has continued to examine the methods used to launder criminal proceeds and has completed two rounds of mutual evaluations of its member countries and jurisdictions. It has also updated the Forty Recommendations to reflect the changes which have occurred in money laundering and has sought to encourage other countries around the world to adopt anti-money laundering measures.

In 2001, the development of standards in the fight against terrorist financing was added to the mission of the FATF.  For more information on the FATF’s role in this area, please see “The Eight Special Recommendations” below.

Gore and U.N. Panel Share Peace PrizeNobel Committee Honors Work on Climate Change

Former vice president Al Gore, who wrapped up a remarkable year of honors yesterday by sharing the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with a U.N. scientific panel, said he will use the award to heighten awareness of "a true planetary emergency" from global warming and press the world's nations to combat its threats.

For Gore, the award was a measure of vindication for his passionate commitment to the issue of climate change in the face of occasional ridicule and pointed political criticism dating back two decades. Coming seven years after a bitter defeat in his bid to win the White House, it also rekindled speculation about a possible 2008 presidential run, which his aides quickly sought to squelch.

In a statement issued shortly after the award was announced in Norway, Gore said he was deeply honored to be cited for his work and to share the prize with the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), a Geneva-based committee of scientists established in 1988.

"The climate crisis is not a political issue, it is a moral and spiritual challenge to all of humanity," Gore said. "It is also our greatest opportunity to lift global consciousness to a higher level."

Later, in a brief appearance in Palo Alto, Calif., with his wife, Tipper, at his side, he told reporters, "We have to quickly find a way to change the world's consciousness about exactly what we're facing." He declined to answer questions.

The decision by the Norwegian Nobel Committee drew widespread praise among Democrats and environmentalists, a more measured response from the White House, and outright scorn from some conservatives.

The awarding of the prize to Gore and the IPCC highlights the extent to which climate change now occupies a central place in the public debate over the world's economic and environmental future.

John Ashton, Britain's special representative for climate change, said the award signals that the international community has "crossed a threshold" when it comes to global warming. "The international community now understands this is not only an environmental challenge like other environmental challenges, it is a fundamental challenge to international peace and security," he said in an interview.

Reaction in Europe, where the Bush administration has been seen as resistant to addressing the warming issue, was strongly positive among politicians across the ideological spectrum.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown called Gore "inspirational." French President Nicolas Sarkozy said he was happy that "a great American used his position to set an example." European Commission President Jos¿ Manuel Barroso said he hoped Gore's honor would encourage world leaders to "approach this challenge even more swiftly and decisively."
