Staţiunea arheo log ică B r ane ţ 1 , se află l a 600 m N de s a t u l c u a¬c e s t n u m e , pe u n p i n t e n de t e r asă , ce se integrează - f n zonă - i n u l t i m u l intrîhd a l Podişului g e t i c . P r o m o n t o r i u l prez intă c a r a c t e r i s t i c i s i m i l a r e ^ c u c e l e a l e a l t o r înălţimi pe c a r e s - a u c o n s t a t a t l o c u i r i d i n p e r i o a d a de t r e c e r e l a epoca b r o n z u l u i ş i d i n această d i n urmă epocă . I n v e c h i m e , e r a înconjurat d i n t r e i părţ i de a p e , i a r păduri le d i n s p r e S E c o n s t i t u i a u de asemenea u n a l t o b s t a c o l n a t u r a l g r e u de străbătut de e v e n t u a l i a t a c a t o r i .

P i n t e n u l de l a d e a l a r e o l u n g i m e de 250 m , lăţimea de 60 m şi înălţimea de 20 m . L a t u r i l e l u n g i sîht în t r -o accentuată s t a r e de d e g r a d a r e , s u r p a r e a treptată a m a l u r i l o r provoc îhd ş i d i s t r u g e r e a r e s t u r i l o r de l o c u i r e s t r ă v ech i .

C e r c e t a r e a arheo log ică a a c e s t e i staţiuni a d u r a t îh a n u l 1972, înt r e 12 i u l i e ş i 1 augus t ş i a a v u t d r e p t s cop să p r e c i z e z e conţinutulcul-t u r a l - a r h e o l o g i c a l l o c u i r i l o r e x i s t e n t e a c o l o , înt inderea a ş e z ă r i l o r o¬meneşti s t răvech i , s u c c e s i u n e a l o r s t ra t i g ra f i că .

S - a p r o c e d a t îh a c e s t s cop l a d e s c h i d e r e a u n e i secţiuni a p r o x i m a t i v pe m i j l o c u l d e a l u l u i , or ientată pe d i r ec ţ ia S V - N E ş i avîhd l u n g i mea de 50 m , i a r lăţimea de 1 , 5 0 m . Pe p a r c u r s , îh funcţie de n e c e s i -tatéa d e z v e l i r i i u n o r c o m p l e x e , s - a u m a i d e s c h i s t r e i c a s e t e . S u p r a faţa săpată a t o t a l i z a t 100 m 2 .

Pe ba za o b s e r v ă r i i p r o f i l u r i l o r şanţului ş i a c a s e t e l o r d e s c h i s e îh t i m p u l săpătur i l o r , s - a p u t u t s t a b i l i următoarea s t r a t i g r a f i e 3 ;

P e s t e pămîntul g a l b e n - l u t o s ( s o l u l v i u ) s t e r i l d i n punc t de v e d e r e a r h e o l o g i c , se găseş te u n s t r a t de pămînt zgrunţuros b run- roşca t , c u o g r o s i m e med i e de 0 , 4 0 m , boga t îh m a t e r i a l e a r h e o l o g i c e de t i p C o ţ o f e n i . De l a l i m i t a in f e r i oară a a c e s t u i s t r a t se adîhceşte g r o a p a u n u i b o r d e i aparţinînd c u l t u r i i Coţo feni , c eea ce dovedeşte un p r i m n i v e l de c ă l c a r e , f n a c e s t s t r a t de cultură s - a u p u t u t d i s t i n g e c o l o r i s t i c două n i v e l u r i de l o c u i r e , d i n c a r e c e l de a l d o i l e a a r e s l abe nuanţe de c e n u -ş iu - r o ş ca t , d e s t u l de g r e u de s u r p r i n s c u o c h i u l l i b e r , f n s p r i j i n u l a¬c e s t e i constatăr i v i n e şi f a p t u l că a p r o x i m a t i v l a 0 , 2 0 m de p r i m u l n i -

v e l de c ă l c a r e (căruia f i e s t e p r o p r i u b o r d e i u l ) s - a d e z v e l i t o locuinţă de suprafaţă aparţinînd de asemenea c u l t u r i i Coţo fen i . A s t f e l , n i v e l u l de c ă l c a r e a l a c e s t e i amenajăr i , marchează l i m i t a in fer ioară a c e l u i de a l d o i l e a n i v e l .

S u p r a p u s s o l u l u i b run- roşca t , se află un s t r a t de pămîht b r u n - c e -nuşiu h u m o s , c u o g r o s i m e med i e de 0 , 5 0 m , cuprinzînd mater ia le a r h e o l o g i c e aparţinînd p e r i o a d e i t i m p u r i i a e p o c i i b r o n z u l u i , r e s p e c t i v c u l t u r i i G l i n a I I I . I n c u p r i n s u l a c e s t u i s t r a t au p u t u t f i s u r p r i n s e t r e i n i v e l u r i de l o c u i r e , puse fn ev idenţă at ft c o l o r i s t i c , e f t ş i p r i n m o d u l îh c a r e e r a u d i s p u s e pe o or i zonta lă une l e c o m p l e x e de f r a g m e n t e c e r a m i c e ş i p i e t r e " c u l c a t e " pe n i v e l u r i l e de c ă l c a r e r e s p e c t i v e . A l d o i l e a n i v e l e s t e de a l t f e l b i n e d e l i m i t a t p r i n t r e i locuinţe de suprafaţă d e z v e l i t e în c u r s u l săpă tur i l o r .

D e a s u p r a s o l u l u i brun-cenuşiu se află u n s t r a t r e m a n i a t c u p r i n -zînd,atft f r a g m e n t e c e r a m i c e de t i p Coţofeni .c î t ş i f r a g m e n t e de t i p G l i n a I I I . A c e s t d i n urmă s t r a t e s t e s u p r a p u s l a r f n d u l său de s t r a t u l v e g e t a l a c t u a l g r o s de c i r c a 0 , 1 0 m .

f n porţ iunea nord -es t i că a şanţului a f o s t d e z v e l i t u n b o r d e i c a r e a p u t u t f i c e r c e t a t în întregime în u r m a ca s e t ă r i i l a t u r i i s u d - e s t i c e a sec ţ iun i i . B o r d e i u l a r e u n c o n t u r a p r o a p e r e c t a n g u l a r c u co l ţur i l e r o t u n j i t e , c u o l u n g i m e de 2 , 7 0 m ş i o lăţime de 2 , 3 0 m . De l a n i v e l u l d e s c h i d e r i i g r o a p a se adîhceşte pînă în s o l u l " v i u " c u 0 , 7 0 m . A p r o x i m a t i v îh c e n t r u l e i se a f l a o a l v e o l a r e c u u n d i a m e t r u de 0 , 4 0 m ce se adîncea a p r o x i m a t i v 0 , 0 5 m . N u a f o s t s es i za tă o a r d e r e a p e r e ţ i l o r a c e s t e i a , f n e a , pe l îngă cenuşă ş i cărbuni îh c a n t i t a t e m a r e , se a f l a u oase de a n i m a l e d o m e s t i c e , de mistre ţ ş i de p ă s ă r i , p r e c u m ş i f r a g m e n t e c e r a m i c e . T o t a i c i , i n s i t u , se găseau g r u p a t e c o c h i l i i l e a 60 de m e l c i de grădină ( h e l i x p o m a t i a ) ^ .

I n g r o a p a b o r d e i u l u i s - a u d e s c o p e r i t u n e l t e d i n s i l e x , d i n oase de a n i m a l e , o d a l t ă 5 d i n c o r n de c e r b , u n p l a n t a t o r d i n ace laş i m a t e r i a l , p r e c u m ş i s făr îmătur i de cuarţ i t a lătur i de c î t e va p i e t r e de r î u ° .

F r a g m e n t e l e c e r a m i c e e r a u d e s t u l de n u m e r o a s e ; d i n t r e a c e s t e a , u n e l e a u p u t u t f i î n t r e g i t e . U n v a s - c ă u ş , s p e c i f i c c u l t u r i i C o ţ o f e n i , d e c o r a t c u şnurul ş i avîhd t o a r t a suprafhălţată, a f o s t găs i t i n t a c t ( p l . 1/2) ; l a adîhcimea de 1 ,70 m s p a r t i n s i t u se a f l a u n v a s - a s k o s ( p l . l / l a . b . c ) . A l ă tu r i de a c e s t e a a m a i f o s t în t reg i t u n căuş c u toartă s u -praînălţată ( p l . l / 3 ) .

Pămîhtul d i n z ona b o r d e i u l u i conţinea n u m e r o a s e f r a g m e n t e de c h i r p i c i f o a r t e împrăş t ia te , a c e s t e a făcîhd p r o b a b i l p a r t e d i n s u p r a s t r u c t u r a b o r d e i u l u i . De a s e m e n e a , pămîhtul d i n p e r i m e t r u l a c e s t u i a conţ inea ş i m i c i p a r t i c u l e de că rbune .

A p r o x i m a t i v l a 15 m sud-» v e s t de b o r d e i , l a adîhcimea de 0 , 8 5 m a e x i s t a t o locuinţă de m i c i d i m e n s i u n i pusă f h ev idenţă de c h i r p i c i u l ş i de f r a g m e n t e l e c e r a m i c e d i s e m i n a t e pe or i zonta lă l a adîhcimea amintită.

Nu s - a p u t u t d e t e r m i n a c o n t u r u l locuinţei şi n i c i v r e o amena j a r e d i n i n t e r i o r u l a c e s t e i a . I n v e n t a r u l e r a compus d i n două s i l e x u r i a t i p i c e , un f r a g m e n t de fusaio lă , c f t e va p i e t r e de r f u , şi d i n r e s t u r i c e r a m i c e d i n c a r e a p u t u t f i r e c o n s t i t u i t parţ ia l un vas amforă, c a r a c t e r i s t i c şi e l c u l t u r i i Coţo fen i^ .

U n e l t e l e şi m a t e r i a l u l l i t i c . I n v e n t a r u l d e s c o p e r i t fn c e l e două c o m p l e x e , p r e c u m ş i fn d e p u n e r e a de cultură Coţo fen i , c u p r i n d e o can t i t a t e r e l a t i v mică de u n e l t e .

D i n r f n d u l m a t e r i a l u l u i l i t i c , menţionăm 10 s i l e x u r i a t i p i c e de c u l o a r e c a f e n i e de d i f e r i t e nuanţe, p r e c u m şi s fărfmături de cuarţ it m a sate f h t r - u n co l ţ a l b o r d e i u l u i a m i n t i t .

D i n oase de a n i m a l e au f o s t l u c r a t e fmpungătoare,precum şi o s e r i e de m i c i u n e l t e ( d i n aşch i i ) f o l o s i t e p r o b a b i l l a d e c o r a r e a v a s e l o r . O daltă d i n c o r n de c e r b de m a r i d i m e n s i u n i a f o s t descoper i tă f n b o r d e i . T o t d i n m a t e r i a l u l a m i n t i t e s t e o unealtă păstrată f r a g m e n t a r (pl.2/7).Par-t ea ventra lă a a c e s t e i a prez intă u r m e de f o l o s i r e îndelungată^.

Două f r a g m e n t e de f u s a i o l e d i n l u t a r s , d e s c o p e r i t e , una fn l o c u inţa de suprafaţă şi cea la l tă în s t r a t u l de cul tură, au f o r m e d i s c o i d a l e a p l a t i z a t e .

f n a doua jumătate a secţ iuni i s t r a t u l de cultură Coţofeni î ş i p ă s t rează g r o s i m e a , însă scade f r ecvenţa m a t e r i a l u l u i c e r a n i c c u a p r o a p e 5 0 $ .

C e r a m i c a . A p r o a p e în t o t a l i t a t e , c e r a m i c a de t i p Coţofeni de l a Braneţ prez intă f o r m e ş i o r n a m e n t e s p e c i f i c e a c e s t e i c u l t u r i ^ , r e m a r -c îhdu-se însă ş i e l emen t e c a r a c t e r i s t i c e a c e s t e i a ş e z ă r i .

D i n p u n c t u l de v e d e r e a l t e h n i c i i de p r e p a r a r e a p a s t e i , c e r a m i c a poate f i împărţită îh două m a r i c a t e g o r i i :

P r i m a c a t e g o r i e , e s t e m a i g roso lană , lucrată d i n pastă conţinfnd g r a n u l e de c a l c a r ş i pa i e t e de mică . fn une l e c a z u r i au f o s t f o l o s i t e ş i c i o b u r i p i s a t e f o a r t e mărunt. I n g e n e r a ] , a m e s t e c u l e s t e b i n e frămîhtat şi a r s l a negru-cenuşiu s a u cenuşiu c u r e f l e x e că rămi z i i - po r t oca l i i . î n t r - o p ropor ţ i e m a r e , v a s e l e au f o s t i n t r o d u s e în t r - o ba i e de l u t , r e z u l -tîhd un s l i p , îh g e n e r a l de c u l o a r e c ă r ă m i z i e - p o r t o c a l i e . Supra fe ţe l e e x t e r i o a r e , a p r o a p e f h t o t a l i t a t e a l o r , sînt a s p r e l a p ipă i t ; c e l e i n t e r i o a r e sîht l u s t r u i t e , une l e c u destulă g r i j ă . Predomină pe r e ţ i i r e l a t i v g roş i c a r e î ş i păs t r ează g r o s i m e a constantă l a f i e c a r e v a s . M a j o r i t a t e a a c e s t o r r e c i p i e n t e au fos t d e c o r a t e f o l o s i n d u - s e c u p r e căde r e i n c i z i a sau i m p r i m a r e a . C a t e g o r i a ce ramică îh d iscuţ ie e s t e f o a r t e f r ecventă m a i a l es îh p r i m u l n i v e l de l o c u i r e ş i r ep re z in tă a i c i a p r o x i m a t i v 4 0 $ d i n întreaga c a n t i t a t e de r e s t u r i c e r a m i c e , v a s e l e f i i n d de m a r i d i m e n s i u n i .

A d o u a c a t e g o r i e c u p r i n d e o ce ramică "bună" , neputîhdu-se v o r b i de o c a t e g o r i e " f i nă " Îh adevăratul înţe les a l cuvîhtului . C e r a m i c a , spec i f i că a c e s t e i c u l t u r i , de c u l o a r e că rămi z i e s a u p o r t o c a l i e ( fn toată g r o s i m e a secţ iuni i ) e s t e p r e zentă f h t r - u n p r o c e n t r i d i c a t . L u s t r u i r e a supra fe ţe lor t i n d e să se g e -n e r r l i z e z e , s l i p u l c o n s t i t u i n d ş i l a această c a t e g o r i e ceramică un e l e ment t e h n i c e s en ţ i a l , f i i n d l u s t r u i t de d a t a a c e a s t a c u multă a tenţ ie , m a i a l e s f h e x t e r i o r u l v a s e l o r . A c e s t e a , s f n t d e c o r a t e f h t r - u n p r o c e n t d e s t u l de m a r e , atît v a s e l e mar i .c î t ş i c e l e m i j l o c i i şi m i c i .

C a t e g o r i i l e de vase s fn t n u m e r o a s e , p o r n i n d de l a căniţa c a r a c t e r i s t i c ă (căuş) ( p l . 1/ 2 ,3 ) , c a s t r o n u l adfnc de d i f e r i t e d i m e n s i u n i ( f i g . 1 / 2 , 3 ) , s t r a c h i n a , v a s u l amforă , d e o s e b i t de c a r a c t e r i s t i c , pfnă l a m a r i l e vasO de p r o v i z i i . A c e s t e a d i n urmă, după c u m n e - o suge rează u n e l e f r a g m e n t e c e r a m i c e , au de c e l e m a i m u l t e o r i g î tul uşor a r c u i t s p r e e x t e r i o r ( p l . 1/5) . Pe lfngă e l e m e n t e l e l o c a l e , să lcuţene , p r e d o m i nă î n t r - o o a r e c a r e măsură, a ş a - z i s e l e f o r m e s u d i c e , c u m sîht a s k o s u l ( p l . l / l a , b , c ) , c e ş t i l e c u f u n d u l r o t u n d ( f i g . 1 / 1 ) , tor t i ţe supraînălţate banda t e ş i b u z e l e o b l i c e 1 0 .

Se r emarcă şi 'Vorme r ă s ă r i t e n e " 1 1 , c u m a r f i s t r a c h i n a emis f e r i că ş i b u z a uşor îngroşată s p r e i n t e r i o r , p r e z e n t e însă într-un număr m i c .

A s k o s u l , găs i t îh b o r d e i , î n t r eg i t , a r e o formă evo luată , c u gît c i l i n d r i c , c u g u r a l a rgă p i e z i şă uşor răs f r îh tă în a fa ră , de s u b buză p o r n i n d o toartă bandată, c a r e , după ce se a rcu ieş te uşor , se p r i n d e pe c o r p u l v a s u l u i l a o distanţă de c i r c a 10 c m . P a s t a neag ră - cenuş i e , c u uşoare r e f l e x e c a s t a n i i , a r e supra fe ţe le l u s t r u i t e . D e c o r u l a f o s t e x e c u t a t f o l o s i n d u - s e t e h n i c a i n c i z i e i ) a c e s t a a c o p e r i n d întreaga suprafaţă a c o r p u l u i v a s u l u i . L a l a z a gîtului e s t e incizată o l i n i e c i r cu la ră sub c a r e se află o bandă formată d i n liniuţe o b l i c e . De a i c i porneşte r e s t u l d e c o r u l u i d i n l i n i i p a r a l e l e , d i s p u s e fn z - ^ - zag , l e ga t e două c î te -'ouă p r i n haşur i , i n t e r c a l a t e f i i n d de spaţ i i c ru ţa t e . U n askc s f r a g m e n t a r ( p l . 1 / 1 1 ) a p r o a p e s i m i l a r c u p r i m u l , a f o s t găsi t îh n i v e l u l s u p e r i o r (ΐν adîncimea de 0 , 8 0 - 0 , 8 5 m) în locuinţa de suprafaţă. S i a l t e f r a g m e n t e sugerează prezenţa t i p u l u i de vas în discuţ ie ( p l . 1 / 6 ) .

Ceaşca t ip ică de d i f e r i t e d i m e n s i u n i , c u t o a r t a supraînălţată, buza dreptă sau obl ică şi c u f u n d u l r o t u n d , a p a r e îh evidenţă într-un număr d e s t u l de m a r e 1 3 . C e r a m i c a de bună c a l i t a t e e s t e l u c r a t a d i n t r - o pastă c a r e conţine n i s i p f i n , pa i e t e de mică şi g r a n u l e de c a l c a r . A m e s t e c u l es te bine f r ă -mîntat, omogen ş i dens fn spăr tură , a r d e r e a făcfndu-se la n e g r u - c e n u şiu c u nuanţe c a s t a n i i s au că răm i z i i . Datorită a r d e r i i e g a l e , pere ţ i i v a s e l o r în toată secţiunea l o r , prez intă o c u l o a r e uniformă. M a j o r i t a t e a supra fe ţe lo r i n t e r i o a r e şi e x t e r i o a r e s fn t n e t e z i t e c u multă gri jă sau l u s t r u i t e .

F o r m e l e s fn t v a r i a t e , îhcepînd c u vase l e p a h a r , s trăchini le şi c a s t r o a n e l e sau m i c i l e căniţe c u gft înalt şi e v a z a l . V a s e l e de p r o v i z i i de m a r i d i m e n s i u n i sînt n u m e r o a s e p r e d o m i n f h d c e l e c u p r o T i l u l fn S p r e l u n g . P e r e ţ i i a c e s t o r a sînt r e l a t i v g r o ş i , d e s t u l de r e z i s t en ţ i .

Un vas m a r e , f h t r e g i t ( p l . 2 / 4 ) , d e s c o p e r i i fn locuinţa n r . 2 , a r e înălţimea de 0,530 m şi d i a m e t r u l g u r i i de 0 , 4 0 0 cm ; gîtul e s t e a r c u i t , g u r a e vaza tă , buza uşor teşită p r i n a l v e o l a r e . C o r p u l es te m a i bombat îh r e g i s t r u l s u p e r i o r a l v a s u l u i şi se termină a p r o a p e o b l i c pe m a r g i nea u n u i fund p l a t , c u t a l p a uşor lă ţ i tă . D e c o r u l a f o s t r e a l i z a t în t e h n i c a " a u r e p o u s s é " , d i n c a r e au r e z u l t a t găuri-butoni în ş i r c i r c u l a r , i m e d i a t s u b buză. Pe umăr, sînt d i s p u s e s i m e t r i c p a t r u proeminenţe l o n g i t u d i n a l e a l v e o l a t e .

A l t e vase de m a r i d i m e n s i u n i au pu tu t f i r e c o n s t i t u i t e par ţ ia l ( f i g . 1 4 / 1 - 3 ) ş i prez intă ace laş i p r o f i l în S p r e l u n g , c u g u r a largă e vaza tă . A c e s t e a sînt d e c o r a t e f i e c u ş i r de găuri-butoni ( f i g . 14/3 ) , f i e c u a l v e o l e înş i ra te c i r c u l a r pe l i n i a gîtului ( f i g . 1 4 / 1 ) . Aşa-numitul v a s - s a c , c u gîtul i m p e r c e p t i b i l schiţat , c u g u r a largă trasă puţin s p r e i n t e r i o r ş i c u buza teş i tă p r i n a l v e o l a r e , a f o s t găsit îh n i v e l u l de l o c u i r e i n f e r i o r . A i c i , d e c o r u l c u găuri-butoni e s t e c o m b i n a t c u d e c o r u l în v î r c i . J O a t e a ces t e r e c i p i e n t e au apucători de d i f e r i t e f o r m e , d i s p u s e i m e d i a t s u b buză ( f i g . 1 4 / 1 ) s a u pe d i a m e t r u l max im a l v a s u l u i ( f i g . 1 4 / 3 , 4 ) .

U n r e c i p i e n t , c a r e se a p r o p i e de t i p u l v a s e l o r b o r c a n ( f i g . 1 4 / 5 ) , a r e o c u l o a r e po r toca l iu - că rămiz i e uniformă atît în e x t e r i o r , c î t ş i în spăr tură . G u r a largă (0 0 , 1 9 0 ) e s t e terminată p r i n subţ i e re ; s u b buză se dezvo l tă un ş i r de găur i -butoni .

C a s t r o a n e l e de d i m e n s i u n i m a r i , l u c r a t e d i n t r - o pastă de bună c a l i t a t e , se d i s t i n g p r i n m a r e a l o r v a r i e t a t e ( f i g . 1 4 / 6 ; 15/1 ,7 ) , punîh-d u - s e îh evidenţă m a i a l e s în p r i m e l e două n i v e l u r i de l o c u i r e .

V a s u l - c a s t r o n de m a r i d i m e n s i u n i ( f i g . 14/6) c u d i a m e t r u l g u r i i de 0 , 3 8 0 m , a r e gîtul a r c u i t , g u r a largă trompet i formă. B u t o n i c i r c u l a r i marchează umărul bombat a l v a s u l u i . Abundă şi c a s t r o a n e l e de d i m e n s i u n i m i c i ş i m i j l o c i i ( f i g . 1 5 / 3 , 4 ) . C a s t r o n u l r e c o n s t i t u i t pa r ţ i a l , de c u l o a r e că rămiz i e ( f i g . 15/4) a r e un gît s c u r t , g u r a dreaptă , c o r p u l a¬p r o a p e b i t r o n c o n i c ; i m e d i a t s u b buză, c r eas tă v e r t i c a l ă ; suprafeţe le b i n e n e t e z i t e sîht a s p r e l a p ipă i t .

P l a s t i c a , f n i n v e n t a r u l locuinţe i n r . 2 , s - a găs i t ş i u n i d o l d i n l u t a r s ( p l . 2 / 5 ) , f o a r t e s t i l i z a t , c u c o r p u l îh formă de c l o p o t , g o l f h i n t e r i o r . L u c r a t d i n t r - o pastă de c u l o a r e că rămi z i e c u p u t e r n i c e u r m e de a r d e r e secundară, a c e s t a , a r e înălţ imea de 0 , 0 7 5 m şi d i a m e t r u l b a z e i de 0 , 0 3 3 m . C a p u l uşor a p l a t i z a t v e n t r o - d o r s a l , prez intă l a t e r a l c î te un o r i f i c i u c a r e n u comunică u n u l c u c e l ă l a l t . De s u b l i n i a gîtului a b i a schiţat, porneşte c o r p u l îh formă de c l o p o t , çu p a r t e a ventra lă m a i d e z voltată. L i n i a s p a t e l u i , de l a g î t l a bază , cade p e r p e n d i c u l a r pe m a r g i nea a c e s t e i a d i n urmă.

Deocamdată, s - a r p u t e a a f i r m a că a ş e z a r e a de t i p G l i n a I I I de l a Braneţ se încadrează în t r -o etapă m i j l o c i e ş i una t î r z i e a r e s p e c t i v e i c u l t u r i d i n p e r i o a d a t i m p u r i e a e p o c i i b r o n z u l u i .

L a s t a t i o n archéo log ique Braneţ e s t située à 600 m N . d u v i l l a g e du même n o m , s u r u n p r o m o n t o i r e q u i s ' i n t é g r e - d a n s l a zone - dans l a dern iè re cav i té d u P l a t e a u Gé t ique .

L e s f o u i l l e s on t donné deux c o u c h e s de c u l t u r e a rchéo log ique : l a p r e m i e r e , avec des matériaux de t ype Coţofeni de l a pér iode de t r a n s i t i o n v e r s l ' époque d u b r o n z e , e t l a deuxième, avec des matériaux t y p iques de l a c u l t u r e G l i n a I I I , de l a pér iode d u début de l ' époque du b r o n z e .

Dans l a c o u c h e q u i a p p a r t i e n t à l a c u l t u r e Coţo fen i , à deux n i v e a u x d ' h a b i t a t , on t été découve r t es d e u x h a b i t a t i o n s . Dans l a p r e m i è r e , une d e m i h u t t e , on à découver t à p a r t des o u t i l s en p i e r r e e t o s , a u s s i q u e l ques vases e n t i e r s p o u v a n t ê t r e réconstitués. On r e m a r q u e spécialement un v a s e a s k o s (pL l/ l a, b ,c ) t r ava i l l é d a n s une pâte f i n e , d e c o u l e u r noire-cendré aux r e f l e t s châta in . L e d é c o r c o u v r e t o u t e l a s u r f a c e d u c o r p d u v a s e et e s t composé de l i g n e s i n c i s é s , p a r a l l è l e s , d i sposées en z i g - z a g , l iées deux p a r d e u x p a r des h a c h u r e s , étant in t é rca l ées d ' e s p a c e v i d e s .

U n a s k o s f r a g m e n t a i r e , r e s e m b l a n t au p r e m i e r , à é té découver t dans u n n i v e a u supé r i eu r , d a n s l a seconde h a b i t a t i o n .

Comme s u i t e de c e t t e découver t e de B rane ţ , étant donné l e s c e r t e s c o n d i t i o n s s t r a t i g r a p h i q u e s , i l r é su l t e l a necéss i t é de r ê p r e n d r e l e p r o blème con t r o v e r s é des sépultures t u m u l a i r e s à o c r e de l 'O l t én i e e t M u n t e n i e .

S t r a t i g r a p h i q u e m e n t , s ans c é s u r e , s u i t l a c u l t u r e G l i n a ΠΙ q u i se su rpose avec une c o u c h e de c u l t u r e épa i sse de 0 , 5 0 m , dans l a q u e l l e on a p u o b s e r v é t r o i s n i v e a u x d ' h a b i t a t . Dans c e u x - c i , à base de l a t y po log ie d e s f o r m e s e t d u d é c o r , se c o n t o u r e n t d e u x p h a s s e , ohacune d ' e l l e s avec d e s ca rac t é r i s t i ques p r o p r e s . L e s e c o n d n i v e a u d ' h a b i t a t S été déterminé p a r t r o i s h a b i t a t i o n s de s u r f a c e , avec u n i n v e n t a i r e contenant n o m b r e u x o u t i l s a g r i c o l e s e n c o r n e s de c e r f , m o u l i n s à m a i n , o u t i l s en o s , e n p i e r r e e t en c u i v r e . E n même t e m p s , à p a r t l e s f r a g -

ments cé ramiques , p a r m i l e s q u e l s se t r o u v e n t quelques-»uns pouvan t ê t r e s r e n d u s c o m p l e t s , on à découver t a u s s i u n i d o l e a n t r o p o m o r p h e en f o r m e de c l o c h e représentant l e c u l t e de l a f écond i t é .

L ' é tab l i s sement de t y p e G l i n a I I I de Braneţ s ' e n c a d r e dan3 une étape moyenne e t t a r d i v e de l a d i t e c u l t u r e de l a pér iode d u début de l ' é poque d u b r o n z e .
