Harul, ndurarea `i pacea s fie cu voi,de la Dumnezeu Tatl `i de la Isus Cristos,Fiul Tatlui, n adevr `i n dragoste!

4M-am bucurat foarte mult, cci am gsitpe unii din copiii ti trind n adevr, dupcum ne-a poruncit Tatl. 5i acum, te rog,Doamn (nu c ^i-a` scrie o porunc nou,ci aceea`i, pe care o avem de la nceput): sne iubim unii pe al^ii! 6Dragostea nseamns trim potrivit poruncilor Sale. Aceastaeste porunca pe care a^i auzit-o de la nce-put: s tri^i o via^ plin de dragoste!

pmnt n trup. O astfel de persoan esten`eltorul `i Anticristul. 8Lua^i seama lavoi n`iv, ca s nu pierde^i cumva rsplatapentru care am lucrat, ci s v primi^intreaga rsplat!

9Cine nu rmne n nv^tura lui Cristos` i t rece d inco lo de ea , nu-L a re peDumnezeu. Cine rmne n aceast nv^-tur, i are pe amndoi: `i pe Tatl, `i peFiul. 10Dac vine cineva la voi `i nu aduceaceast nv^tur, s nu-l primi^i n casavoastr `i s nu-l saluta^i! 11Cci acelacare-l salut, particip la faptele lui rele.

11 Elder This is probably John the apostle. Elder means an older manor a special leader in the church (as in Titus 1:5). 21 lady This mightmean a woman. Or, in this letter, it might mean a church. If it is a church,then her children would be the people of the church. Also in verse 5.3 1 truth The truth or Good News about Jesus Christ that joins allbelievers together.

1Greetings from the Elder.1To the lady2 chosen by God, and to her children.I love all of you truly. And Im not the only

one. All those who know the truth3 love you int he same w ay. 2We love you because of thetruththe truth that lives in us. That truth will bewith us forever.

mercy, and peace will be with us fromGod the Father and from his Son, Jesus Christ aswe live in truth and love.

4I was very happy to learn about some of yourchildren. I am happy that they are following the wayof truth, just as the Father commanded us. 5Andnow, dear lady, I tell you: We should all love eachother. This is not a new command. It is the samecommand we had from the beginning. 6And lovingmeans living the way he commanded us to live.And Gods command is this: that you live a life oflove. You heard this command from the beginning.

7Many false teachers are in the world now.They refuse to say that Jesus Christ came to earth

and became a man. Anyone who refuses to acceptthis fact is a false teacher and the enemy of Christ.8Be careful! Dont lose the reward that you haveworked for. Be careful, so that you will receive allof your reward.

9Everyone must continue to follow only theteaching about Christ. Whoever changes thatteaching does not have God. But whoever con-tinues to follow the teaching about Christ has boththe Father and his Son. 10Dont accept those whocome to you but do not bring this teaching. Dontinvite them into your house. Dont welcome themin any way. 11If you do, you are helping them

with their evil work.12I have much to say to you. But I dont want touse paper and ink. Instead, I hope to come visityou. Then we can be together and talk. That will
