Maramures County has a great biological diversitywithin its 38 protected areas included in IUCN

protected Area Management categories asfollowing: 3 strict nature reserve

1 National Park Rodna Mountains National Park, which

is also UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, having a surface of47227 ha which from 10000 ha are included in MaramuresCounty surface

17 natural monuments

13 Habitat/species management protected areas 1 Natural Park Maramures Mountains Natural Park whit

a surface of 148850 ha

3 protected areas of local interest

The INFO NATURE NETWORK IN MARAMURES COUNTY will

be set at regional level

This network will include:

administrations of protected areas

governmental and nongovernmental organisations

local and regional public authorities

Due to the fact that the project will be the first step in buildinga national web site and Focal Centre, it is obvious it will havenational and international connections within the globalframework of the Convention on Biological Diversity andClearing House Mechanism.

Building a web site www.maramures.biodiversity.ro.

The structure of the web site will include categories on

biodiversity in general, cooperation and dialogue, informationon the Convention on Biological Diversity, information on

legislation and national biodiversity policies and information

on all 38 protected areas in the Maramures County

The web site will be realised in Romanian an English

languages .
