The site finds itself in a state of uncertainty, on the boundary between the historical urban fabric and thequestionable interventions of socialist collective housing. Rather than choosing a side, the building glidesbetween the two worlds, articulated trough the volumes enclosing the staircases. The space within becomesparamount for the project. It gains a purpose trough its transformation into a covered plateau that offers thepossibility of spontaneous interactions, a portico of sorts. In order to maximize this feature the structurebecomes an intrinsic element, using the V-shaped pillar for both its robustness and gracefulness. The volume on topacts as a piano nobile and trough its irregular shape gives birth to a terrace that, alongside the top of thebuilding, adds a vertical dimension to the project. At its core the project serves as a gate that augments one ofthe sites most treasured facet: its ability to reassemble a disembodied space.
