Nandini didn’t understand what to say. She sat silently wondering what to do next. As she laid her face in her palms she felt someone hit the arm of her chair. She looked up to see a police officer standing in front of her with two constables walking a few steps behind him. Raman stood up and asked the officer as to what was the matter. The officer informed him that they had come to arrest him since he had hit a pedestrian with his car which was a criminal offense. Raman quietly complied with the officer and accompanied him and his fellow officers to the police station. Nandini tried to intervene and stop the police from taking Raman with them but Raman asked her to stay calm and look after the girl. After Raman left, Nandini immediately called Soumya and told him all that happened. He asked her to stop worrying and assured her that he would go to the police station and see what could be done.
