Test load/load capacity:

Our test certificates are your peace of mind.

We guarantee that our standard covers, if completely filledwith C 35/45 concrete (European Standard EN 206) willachieve the specified test load.

If a tiled finish is used, the test loading will be slightly reduced.With typeBVH-maxi, BVH-GD-maxi and BVHS 250/400 thefull test load is achieved with a concrete thickness of 5 cm.

Our own monitoring:

Precision-made:

Our covers are manufactured to an accuracy based

on EN Standard 22768-1 Tolerance for lengthand corner dimensions.

Waterproofing:

Our sealed covers are(unless otherwise advised) resistant tostanding surface water or back pressure up to 0.1 bar =1000 mm head of water. (Photo: Watertightness test)

Fire protection:

An official IBS fire-test confirms that fire cannot passthrough our BV-F90 cover for a period of at least90 minutes.

Stock:

We keep large stocks of all standardHAGODECK covers permanently available for you at our Wels warehouse,

our Vienna branch and our dealers.

Packaging and Labelling:

Standard covers are packed with cardboard corners.These provide adequate protection during transport, and minimum use of cardboard is environmentally sound.Corners are printed with the size and type of cover clearly visible,simplifying stock-control in the warehouse or on site.

HAGO corners:

Our corner system is a simple, small, attractive interface between the lifting point

and the floor finish. Aesthetically pleasing to architects and designers,with minimum disturbance to the finish. Installers throughout Europe considerthe HAGO logo a discrete sign of quality.

Installation instructions:

Hard to miss them: they are bright red, clear and brief,yet filled with useful tips for trouble-free installation.

Opening tools:

EveryHAGO access cover comes with a complete set,firmly tied to it to minimise loss in transit. No need to order

(or pay for) them separately.

Gas lift-struts:

Covers which feature assisted opening are equipped with high quality, rugged anddurable gas struts (1).For extra heavy covers we use patented double-piston

gas struts (2) - see pages 16, 17 & 18.

Cross-beam system:

Our patented HAGO cross-beam system is central to the success of our multi-partduct covers. The sealed cross beams can be fitted and removed without tools andmake the installation stable and largely watertight - see pages 25 - 27.

Type BVA comfort alu prefilled, hinged, sealed cover

Load capacity: Pedestrian use

Materials: Cover and frame in aluminiumextrusions. Aluminium base plate, with flush tofloor hinge.

Features: The cover is raised by the hingesignificantly reducing the effort needed. A safety device is fitted, locking the cover in theraised position. Pre-filled with lightweight con-crete. This provides asignificant reduc-tion in weight compared to normal con-crete fillings. Arecess of 20 mm is left for the floor finish with slabs, tiles, parquet etc.With thin tiles, the difference in depth shouldbe compensated for on site with tile adhesive.

A sealed cover of high quality with a very attractive finish, especially the visible edges.Stable corner joints guarantee a very highdegree of rigidity and facilitate an exactconnection with tiles, slabs etc.

Features: Largely water tight access cover for use in buildings. Thin(2 mm) sections atfloor level are almost invisible when installedand the tapered design facilitates lifting.

Fire test certificate: The certificate issuedfollowing a live fire-test by the Institute for FireProtection Technology and Safety Research(IBS)confirms that the HAGODECK TypeBV-F 90 steel resists a fire for 90 minutesand thus significantly contributes to safety inthe event of a fire.

The Lift-Off opening system: Every HAGODECK Type BV-F 90 steel cover comes with a set of lifting keys and preciseinstallation instructions. After lifting out thecover, the fire protection panel can be remo-ved using its grab handle. GD - all stainless steel, grade 304, passivatedafter manufacturing. Both models use stainlesssteel hinges, EPDM seals and gas lift-struts.

Features: Largely water tight hinged cover with gas-strut assisted lifting so that the cover can be opened with one hand. Safety devicefitted to prevent the open cover from closing.

Applications: As a cover over installationsthat need regular maintenance, and where oneman operation may be expected. BVE-GD isparticularly recommended over plant in swim-ming pool areas.

Installation: EveryHAGODECK Type BV-GD or BVE-GD cover comes with a set of lifting keys and precise installation instructions.Installation must be carried out according toour instructions. Particular care must be takento seal the frame into the surrounding floor.Note: the gas-struts are packed separately and must be installed after the cover andframe have been installed and filled. Our exactinstructions should be followed, and the con-crete must be set. (Under extreme conditions e.g. continuous rain, melting snow or a floo-ded floor, the complete integrity of the water-

Materials: Cover and frame sections in extruded aluminium base plate, die castaluminium combined corner joints/lifting points. Steel mesh reinforcement,EPDM seals.

Features: Largely water tight access cover for use with high specification floor finishes. Precision-cast corner joints are welded to the frame extrusions to give acompletely rigid frame and facilitate tile-cutting/fixing. Thin(3mm) extrusions at floor level are almost invisible when installed and the covers are highly corrosion resistant.

Demountable cross-beams are used (HAGO patent no 396796) which are remo-ved without tools to give clear access to the duct. The beams include permanentseals to form a joint where the beam sits in the side frame.

FAQs -Frequently Asked Questions: DECK


Cover: In our sealed versions in steel or stainless steel, the cover is already designed to bewatertight. In our fillable aluminium covers(e.g. BVA),the base plate is only spot-welded for technical reasons(distortion).Here it is important that the concrete infill provides a seal(concrete

should be shaken and well-compressed) if the cover is to be optimally watertight.

Frame: With watertight models, care must be taken to seal the outside of the frame into thesurrounding flooring(use concrete with waterproofing additives). If the covers are to be installed inareas where a high degree of watertightness is required, please always ask for our advice.

What has to be done wheninstalling HAGO access covers to

ensure watertightness?

This notch is found on our steel or stainless steel covers without hinges.

We produce our covers with very little tolerance and gap dimensions. The cover and frame are then(after galvanising or passivating)optimally realigned. The notch serves as a marker, so that thisoptimal fit is not later lost by placing the cover into the framer the wrong way. For an optimal fit, thenotch in the cover should find the notch in the frame. TheHAGO notch is seen today as a sign of quality.

Some HAGO access covers have a small notch on one side (of the

cover and frame).What is this for?

Our EPDM seals are very long-lasting when used appropriately. However, if watertightness is animportant criterion for you, we would request you to consider the seals to be a part which is subjectto wear and tear, and to check their condition regularly.

If the cover is opened and closed particularly often(e.g. models with gas struts), or if the seal issubjected to dirt or grit, its lifespan is reduced.

If your seal appears damaged or no longer flexible, we recommend that you order a replacementseal from HAGO (giving details of the cover model and size).Replacement seals are alwaysdelivered with suitable glue and instructions for changing the seal.

How frequently should the seals onHAGO access covers be renewed?

Care should be taken with flooring material which is known to shrink or expand when drying or curing. The cover must be in the frame when the floor is laid. If necessary, fit flexible spacers(min. width 10 mm) around the outside of the frame. These can be removed when the floor hashardened and the gap filled with a flexible jointing material.

Can HAGO covers be fitted directly into floors as they are laid?

No problem, just make a square concrete rim around the round opening.This has to correspond to at least the outside dimensions of the access cover.

A very important question, as 125 kN test load or B 125 refers to neither the wheel load nor tothe load capacity per square meter.The basis is the European Standard EN 124. It divides possible installation locations of access coversinto six groups. Group 2 includes: footways, pedestrian and similar areas, car parks or car parkingdecks.

For these areas in Group 2, the Standard provides for the installation of access covers of class B 125(125 kN test load). Access covers are classified as B 125 with regard to load capacity if no cracks(in simplified terms)are produced by up to 125 kN force on the test rig (25 cm diameter block).

This test procedure according to EN 124 thus serves to classify access covers.HAGO access covers should however never be subjected to the indicated test load in normal usage.

The European Standard EN 124 does not give a direct indication of the actually possible load in kNor tonnes. However, as a rough guideline it can be said thatHAGO covers with 125 kN test load when fully filled with grade C 34/45 concrete can be slowly driven over with a maximum of3 tonnes wheel load (air-inflated tyres). That corresponds to the maximum wheel loads which canbe expected in car parks or car parking decks.

Does 125 kN test load mean that the HAGO cover can be subjected

to a wheel load of 125 kN (12.5t.) or to a load of 125 kN (12.5t) per

square metre?

In this case, the load capacity is reduced depending on the thickness and type of the material.

For normal loading in pedestrian areas,HAGO access covers are of course also suitable when filledwith blocks, tiles etc. However, the thickness of the floor finish should not excede 20 mm.(BVA light, BVA comfort: max.10 mm).

If higher load capacities are required for covers partly filled with a f loor finish, e.g. for heavy vehiclesplease ask for our advice.

For models with gas struts, silicone grouting is required. With all other models, grouting withsilicone around the frame is advised but not absolutely necessary.

Should the joints between theframe and the flooring be grouted

with silicone?

Standard (75 mm or 50 mm depth) HAGO covers should never be filled with asphalt. They needconcrete filling to achieve structural strength.If you require an asphalt surface, please use our models with a 10 cm high cover(BVH-maxi,BVH-GD maxi, BVHS 250/400).In this case, the cover has to be filled with approx. 7 cm of concrete, the rest can be filled with asphalt.

HAGODECK operate a policy of continuous improvement andreserve the right to modify specifications and/or dimensions. If theprecise measurements of our covers are critical to a particular job,we will be pleased to confirm these on request.

Additional specification clauses: .Covers must be completely filled with concrete to categoryC 35/45 EN 206, (BVH - Maxi, BVH-GD maxi andBVHS 250/400, 5 cm of concrete layer ) if the cover is toachieve the specified test load.

.Where sealed covers are specified, care must be taken to seal theouter frame into the surrounding floor..If flooring material with characteristics significantly different toconcrete e.g. asphalt is to be used, specific installation instructionsshould be obtained from the manufacturer.
