You will probably come across Palma's Plaza Mayor if you like shopping, because it is right in the centre of the main pedestrian-only shopping area, and a short walk to the fruit and vegetable market in Plaza Olivar. It’s an imposing square, especially in the sunshine with its various cafes and restaurants, and on Fridays and Saturdays it has a small crafts market that liven it up, selling all sorts of small items. There are also street artists and musicians in and around the square, giving it a very nice festive ambience. Calle Sindicat, leading away from the square, is a favorite shopping street with locals, with a wide range of shops. I wouldn't say it’s a main attraction, but it’s certainly worth a look. Especially if you are out shopping.

Până în anul 1950 a fost principala piaţă agroalimentară a oraşului, dar construindu-se un mare centru comercial subteran şi o parcare, a devenit o piaţă pietonală unde se desfăşoară multe dintre evenimentele culturale
