Subiectul I

Billy Cody got a computer for his tenth birthday. He assembled it himself by connecting the

keyboard, screen and printer. Then he taught himself how to use it. After a few months, he was ableto do all kinds of things on it. He was a very intelligent child.

One of his favorite things was playing music on his computer. It was capable of copying thesounds of musical instruments. He could make it sound like a piano, a violin, and drums. But thecomputer was incapable of copying the sounds of a guitar, so Billy learned to play a guitar.

After a few years of looking at a computer screen, Billys eyes began to hurt. A doctorexamined his eyes, and after the examination, he said Billy should wear glasses. So, Billy startedwearing glasses when he was twelve. He also continued to use his computer. He learned more aboutit every day. He even learned how to fix it when it broke down.

Several years later, when they installed new computers at the base, it was Sgt. William Codywho assembled them. Today, Sgt Cody handles all the problems with the computers at the base.

When there is a problem, he tells everyone to shut off the computers. Then, after the people shutthem down, he takes the computers apart, fixes them, and puts them together again. Today he isfixing Lt Barrs computer. It isnt very difficult for him because he received training for the job inthe militay. But he prepared in other ways, too. He had years of experience with computers beforehe joined the service. You might say he has been in training since he was ten, and thats a lot of

preparation.
