emult, într-un oraş de pe coasta Atlanticului, trăia un tânăr pe nume Ben-jamin. Era studios, prieten bun cu cărţile, dar pasiunea lui era să navigheze pe Internet. Această lume virtuală îi deschidea noi orizonturi: îl atrăgeau

bibliotecile virtuale şi galeriile de artă dar şi destinaţiile exotice. Totul era atît de simplu: un motor de căutare, un click şi în faţa ta se deschidea o nouă lume.Citise marii clasici dar şi autori moderni, se specializase în artă şi fotografie, călătorise pe toate continentele, o singură destinaţie părea deocamdată inaccesibilă pentru el: Insula Paradisului. Când era mic, bunica îi povestise că există undeva, departe, o Insulă a Para-disului, unde în râuri curge lapte şi pe petalele florilor se găseşte miere şi nectar. Acolo toţi oamenii sunt fericiţi şi nu ştiu ce înseamnă lipsurile, suferinţa şi durerea. Mai târziu, a citit in Biblie despre Rai, de unde Adam şi Eva au fost izgoniţi pentru că au muşcat din fructul oprit. Odată cu trecerea timpului, curiozitatea lui Ben-jamin creştea. Această Insulă a Paradisului devenise aproape o obsesie..Nu găsea destule informaţii ca să-şi satisfacă setea de cunoaştere, dar nu se descuraja deloc, dimpotrivă, devenea tot mai hotărât să găsească acel loc. Într-o seară, când naviga pe Internet, ca de obi-cei, admirând nişte tablouri într-o galerie virtuală, pri-virea îi fu atrasă de o pînză intitulată chiar aşa: Insula Paradisului. Era o pictură neobişnuită, dar cu cât se uita la ea, cu atât îl fascina şi mai mult. Înfăţişa o insulă suspendată, plutind pe deasupra norilor. Priveliştea era încântătoare: grădini multicolore şi pomi înfloriţi, heleştee cu ape limpezi şi peştişori aurii, diferite soiuri de păsări şi fluturi, însă nicăieri nu se zărea ţipenie de om. Privirea lui Benjamin nu se putea dezlipi de tablou, îl atrăgea ca un magnet. Deodată i se păru că tabloul se măreşte şi el se trezi că păşeşte înăuntrul lui. Nu avu timp să-şi dea seama ce se întâmpla cu el. Când se uită în jur, văzu că se afla pe Insula Paradisului. Începu să cerceteze împrejurimile, căutând urme de existenţă umană şi, la un moment dat, văzu în depărtare o clădire cu turnuri, ce semăna cu un castel. Era făcută în întregime din sticlă şi era singura aşezare de pe insulă. Curios, tânărul îşi îndreptă paşii într-acolo.

D nce, in a city on the Atlantic coast, there lived a young man whose name was Benjamin. He was studious, a good friend of books, but his real pas-sion was surfing on the Internet. This virtual world opened new horizons

for him: he was attracted by virtual libraries and art galleries but also by exotic destinations. Everything was so easy: a search engine, a click and right in front of you there was a new world. He had read the great classics, but also modern au-thors, he had taken a specialization in art and photography, he had travelled on all the continents, only one destination seemed unattainable for him at the moment: the Isle of Paradise.

When he was a little boy, his grandma used to tell him that there was somewhere, far beyond, an Isle of Paradise, where milk flowed in the rivers and you could find honey and nectar on the petals of the flow-ers. There all the people were happy and nobody knew what destitution, suffering and pain were. Later, he read in the Bible about Eden, and how Adam and Eve were banished because they ate the forbidden fruit. With the passing of time, Benjamin’s curiosity was rising. This Isle of Paradise had become almost an obsession. He couldn’t find enough information to satisfy his thirst for knowledge , but he wasn’t discour-aged at all, on the contrary, he became more and more determined to find that place. One evening, when he was surfing on the Inter-net as usual, admiring some painting in a virtual art gal-lery, his attention was drawn by a canvas called quite so: The Isle of Paradise. It was an unusual painting but the more he looked at it, the more he was fascinated by it. It was portraying a hanging island, floating above the clouds. The overview was charming: multicoloured gardens and trees in blossom, ponds with clear crystal water and golden fish, different kinds of birds and but-terflies, but nowhere could you see a trace of a human. Benjamin couldn’t take his eyes away from the picture, it was drawing him like a magnet. Suddenly it seemed to him that the painting grew bigger and bigger and that he was stepping inside it. He didn’t have time to realize what was going on with him. When he looked around he saw that he was on the Isle of Paradise.

Fu întâmpinat de o femeie nespus de frumoasă, care îl invită înăuntru: -Acceptă să fii oaspetele meu, îl îmbie ea. Este o adevărată sărbătoare când un pământean vine aici. -De ce? întrebă Benjamin. -Pentru că asta se întâmplă o dată la câteva sute de ani! Vino, continuă ea, aici poţi să ai viaţa pe care ai visat-o mereu, să te bucuri de toate fără să faci nimic. Îţi sunt interzise doar două lucruri: pe unul îl cunoşti deja: nu ai voie să guşti fructele din Pomul Cunoaşterii, al doilea: nu ai voie să mă săruţi sub nici un motiv, chiar dacă te chem, te implor sau mă tângui. Dacă îmi atingi buzele, în acea clipă Paradisul se prăbuşeşte şi tu pierzi absolut totul! -Hmmm! se gândi Benjamin, prima interdicţie nu va fi greu de respectat. În ceea ce o priveşte pe cea de-a doua,va încerca să stea cât mai departe de femeia aceea nespus de frumoasă. Prima zi în Paradis şi-o petrecu plimbându-se pe insulă, mângâiat de razele soarelui şi vrăjit de trilurile păsărilor. Gustă din fructele parfumate şi din nectarul florilor, se scăldă în râul de lapte, iar seara vizită castelul de sticlă. Acolo o revăzu pe femeia cea frumoasă. Purta un veşmânt vaporos, unduindu-şi trupul în ritmurile divine ale muzicii. Îi zâmbea, şoptindu-i: -Vino să dansăm şi vei şti ce înseamnă fericirea!Benjamin se abţinu cu dificultate să nu răspundă chemării ei. Inima îi bătea cu putere, aproape să-i spargă pieptul. Se apropie încet de femeia frumoasă şi văzu că ochii ei erau plini de lacrimi. -Nu plânge! îi şopti el . Lacrimile n-ar trebui să umbrească niciodată un chip atât de frumos! Şi spunând aceste cuvinte, uită de promisiunea făcută şi îşi lipi buzele de faţa ei.Curând buzele lor se atinseră într-un sărut pasional, dar în acel moment se făcu beznă în mintea lui şi Ben-jamin simţi că se prăbuşeşte în gol...... Când deschise ochii, se afla în faţa calculatorului, iar pe ecran mai era încă pânza intitulată: Insula Paradisului. -Aşadar totul a fost doar un vis....Paradisul, cu toate minunăţiile lui, oftă Benjamin. He started to explore the surroundings, searching for traces of human ex-istence and at a certain moment he saw a building with towers that looked like a castle. It was made completely of glass and it was the only settlement on the island. Curious, the young man headed towards it. He was welcomed by an exqui-sitely beautiful woman, who invited him inside:

‘’Please, be my guest! “, she lured him. ” It’s a real feast when a hu-man comes here.”

“Why? asked Benjamin ‘’Because this happens once in a few hundred years! Come here, she went on, you could have the life you’ve al-ways dreamed of, enjoy it without doing anything. Only two things are forbidden to you: you already know the first: you are not allowed to eat fruit from the Tree of Knowledge,

and the second one: you are not allowed to kiss me for any reason: even if I call, beg or complain. If you touch my lips, right at that moment the paradise falls and you lose

everything for good. “Hmm! thought Benjamin, the first commandment

would be easy to obey. Concerning the second one, he will try to stay as far as possible from that exquisitely beautiful woman! He spent his first day walking on the island, caressed by the rays of the sun and enchanted by the trills of the birds. He tasted the scented fruit and the nectar of the flowers, he took a bath in the milk river and in the eve-ning, he visited the glass castle. There, he saw the exqui-sitely beautiful woman again. She was wearing a sheer

habit, undulating her body in the divine rhythm of the music. She smiled to him, whispering:

“Come and dance with me and you’ll find out what hap-piness is!”

Benjamin battled with difficulty not to answer her call. His heart was pounding, almost enough to break his chest. He came

close to the exquisitely beautiful woman and he saw that her eyes were full of tears.“Don’t cry!”, he whispered. “Tears should never shadow such a beautiful face!”And saying these words, he forgot about the promise he had made and he pressed his lips to her face. Soon, their lips touched

“So, it was all just a dream…..Paradise with all its wonders, sighed Benjamin. I still wonder: is it the limits that lead you to the real happiness or just the

attempt to go beyond them? It’s important for each of us to try to find out the answer…Saying these words, Benjamin turned the computer off and went

to sleep. Beyond this night, a whole new day was waiting for him and he was thinking of making the most of it.
