Situat în partea de sud - vest a României, judeţul Caraş - Severin constituie Banatul Montan, regiune cu o bogată diversitate geografică şi culturală şi cu o lungă tradiţ ie industrială.În estul judeţului versanţii abrupţi ai munţilor Cernei şi munţilor Mehedinţi delimitează Valea Cernei, una din cele mai importante destinaţii de turism balnear şi de aventură din România, cu staţiunea balneo - climaterică Băile Herculane. La Băile Herculane găsim urmele civilizaţiei romane care a stăpânit aceste teritorii acum 2000 de ani, dar şi o puternică amprentă arhitecturală a perioadei imperiului austro-ungar. La sud, o parte din graniţa cu Serbia, este definită de fluviul Dunărea, care formează, la limita cu judeţul Mehedinţi defilee spectaculoase la Cazanele Mari şi Cazanele Mici. În centrul şi nordul judeţului se remarcă masivele muntoase Ţarcu - Muntele Mic şi Semenic unde s-au dezvoltat staţiuni pentru sporturi de iarnă. În aceste masive se întâlnesc lacurile Gozna, Trei Ape şi Măru, cu satele turistice din apropierea lor: Poiana Mărului, Văliug, Brebu Nou şi Gărâna.Cheile Nerei şi Cheile Caraşului, cascadele Beuşniţa şi Bigăr, lacurile Dognecea şi Buhui sunt alte atracţii care fac din judeţul Caraş - Severin o destinaţie perfectă pentru turismul activ.

Located in the south-west o f Romania, the Caraş-Severin county constitutes the Mountainous Banat, a region with a rich geographic and cultural diversity and a long industrial tradition.In the east of the county the steep slopes of the Cerna and Mehedinţi Mountains border the Cerna Valley, one of the most important destinations of spa and adventure tourism in Romania, with the balneal climatic resort Băile Herculane. Here we find the traces of the Roman civilisation which reigned over these territories two thousand years ago, and a powerful architectural influence of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire period. In the south, a part of the frontier with Serbia is outlined by the Danube, which forms, at the encounter with the Mehedinţi county, spectacular straits at Cazanele Mari and Cazanele Mici. At the centre and in the north of the county we encounter the Mounts Ţarcu - Muntele Mic and Semenic where winter sport resorts have developed. In these mountains we find Lakes Gozna, Trei Ape and Măru, with the touristic villages in their vicinity: Poiana Mărului, Văliug, Brebu Nou and Gărâna.Nera and Caraş Gorges, Beuşniţa and Bigăr waterfalls, Lakes Dognecea and Buhui are other sights which make Caraş - Severin a perfect destination for active tourism.

Bogăţia geografică a regiunii este pusă în valoare şi conservată şi prin cele cinci parcuri naţionale sau naturale din judeţ: Semenic - Cheile Caraşului, Cheile Nerei - Beuşniţa, Porţile de Fier, Domogled - Valea Cernei şi Retezat. Bogăţia culturală a judeţului Caraş - Severin este legată în primul rând de multienicitate. Un judeţ în care printre satele cu populaţie românească se întâlnesc sate cu populaţie germană, maghiară, sârbă, croată, cehă sau ucraineană poate fi considerat un simbol al spiritului european.Itinerariile culturale ale Banatului Montan nu trebuie să rateze Teatrul Ve c h i d i n O r a v i ţ a , M u z e u l Regimentului de Graniţă de la Caransebeş, precum şi festivalurile de la Gărâna, între care se remarcă Festivalul de Jazz, care atrage anual cele mai importante trupe ale genului şi turişti din toată Europa.Banatul Montan are o lungă tradiţie industrială, pornită la Bocşa şi Reşiţa în secolul XVIII, continuată apoi la Oţelu Roşu, Anina şi Moldova Nouă. Pe teritoriul judeţului se află prima ca le fe ra tă mon tan is t i că d in România, care leagă Anina de Oraviţa, pe un traseu de o frumuseţe rară.

The geographic richness of the region is valued and preserved also in the five national or natural parks of the county: Semenic - Caraş Gorges, Nera Gorges - Beuşniţa, Porţile de Fier (Iron Gates), Domogled – Cerna Valley and Retezat. The cultural richness and diversity of Caraş - Severin county is related first of all to multiethnic composition. A county where among the villages with Romanian population we encounter villages with German, Hungarian, Serb ian , Croa t ian , Czech o r Ukra in ian populat ion may be considered a symbol of the European spirit.The cultural i t ineraries in the Mountainous Banat must absolutely include the Old Theatre of Oraviţa, The Museum of the Border Regiment at Caransebes, or the festivals organised at Gărâna, among which the Jazz Festival, which annually attracts the most prestigious bands of the genre and tourists from all over Europe. The Mountainous Banat has a long industrial tradition, started at Bocşa and Reşiţa in the 18th century, and then continued at Anina and Moldova Nouă. On the county territory we find the f i rst mountain ra i l road of Romania, linking Anina and Oraviţa, on a route of breathtaking beauty.

Situat la poalele munţilor Semenic, pe râul Bârzava, Reşiţa este centrul administrativ al judeţului Caraş-Severin. Aici se regăsesc sediile centrale ale principalelor instituţii publice şi private ale judeţului. Oraşul este legat de Bucureşti (501 km) şi Timişoara (101 km) prin infrastructură rutieră şi feroviară. Cel mai apropiat aeroport se află la o distanţă de 104 de km (Aeroportul Traian Vuia Timişoara). Distanţa până la Belgrad este de 180 km, iar până la Budapesta 417 km.Reşiţa este poarta de plecare spre zona turistică Semenic - Văliug - Gărâna, dar şi spre Anina şi Oraviţa. Situat la o altitudine medie de 208 metri şi înconjurat de dealuri, Reşiţa are o climă temperată cu influenţe mediteraneene.

Oraşu l p rez i n tă un ca rac te r multietnic, cu puternice comunităţi de origine germană şi maghiară.Muzeul Locomotivelor cu Abur, situat în aer liber, prezintă modele realizate la Reşiţa, printre care şi una din cele trei locomotive care au constituit prima serie, fabricată în 1872.

Universitatea “Eftimie Murgu” are sediul în centrul oraşului, la 200 de metri de Gara de Sud şi la 300 de metri de zona comercială Centru Civic - Nera.

Situated at the foot of Mount Semenic, along the Bârzava River, Reşiţa is the administrative capital Caraş-Severin county. Here we find the central headquarters of the main public and private institutions of the county. The town is connected to Bucharest (501 km) and Timişoara (101 km) by road and railway infrastructure. The nearest airport is located 104 km away (The Traian Vuia Airport of Timişoara). The distance to Belgrade is 180 km, and to Budapest 417 km.Reşiţa is the starting point toward the Semenic - Văliug - Gărâna touristic area, and also to Anina and Oraviţa. Lying at an average altitude of 208 meters and surrounded by hills, Reşiţa has a temperate climate with Mediterranean influences.

The town has a multi-ethnic character, with strong German and Hungarian ethnic communities.The open-air Museum of Steam Locomotives exhibits the models realised at Reşiţa, among which one of the three locomotives of the first series, manufactured in 1872.

The University “Eftimie Murgu” has its headquarters downtown, at 200 meters from Reşiţa South Railway Station and at 300 meters from Civic Centre - Nera shopping area.

1771 este anul care a marcat în mod hotărâtor istoria Reşiţei. Atunci s-au i n a u g u r a t f u r n a l e l e c a r e a u determinat traiectoria acestui oraş, devenit în secolele XIX şi XX unul dintre cele mai cunoscute centre metalurgice şi constructoare de maşini ale Europei. La Reşiţa s-au î n r e g i s t r a t m u l t e p r e m i e r e industriale, iar specialiştii locali au stat la baza dezvoltării industriale a României în secolul XX. În uzinele reşiţene s-au proiectat şi fabricat locomotive cu abur, poduri sudate, motoare Diesel, motoare navale, turbine hidraulice, generatoare de mare putere, şi reductoare. Sistemul h i d r o e n e r g e t i c a l R o m â n i e i funcţionează în cea mai mare parte cu echipamente proiectate ş i fabricate la Reşiţa.

Astăzi, o parte din istoria oraşului este patrimoniu industrial, iar oraşul se redefineşte, punându-se accent pe noile tehnologii şi pe dezvoltare sustenabilă prin turism şi servicii. Avantajele competitive sunt date de poziţionarea geografică, de statutul de centru administrativ al judeţului Caraş-Severin, de existenţa forţei de muncă cal i f icată, de prezenţa învăţământului superior ş i de multiculturalitate.

1771 is the year which decisively marked Reşiţa's history. They opened then the furnace which determined the trajectory of this town, become, in the 19th and 20th century, one of the most renowned centres of metallurgy and machine-building industry in Europe. Reşiţa has seen many an industrial premiere, and the local specialists were the foundation of Romania's industrial development in the 20th century. Reşiţa's plants were the centre for the design and manufacture of steam locomotives, welded bridges, Diesel engines, naval motors, hydraulic turbines, high-power generators and reducing gears. Romania's energy system mostly operates with equipment designed and manufactured at Reşiţa.

Nowadays, part of the town history has become industrial patrimony, and the town is redefining itself, with stress on new technologies and sustainable development through tourism and services. Its competitive advantages are provided by the geographic position, the status of administrative capital of Caraş-Severin county, the existence of qual i f ied labour force, the presence of higher education and multiculturalism.

Formarea de profesioniști cu înaltă calificare

este unul dintre cei mai importanţi factori care

conduc la dezvoltarea unei comunităţi. Pe tot

parcursul existenţei sale, Universitatea

„Eftimie Murgu” din Reșiţa s-a definit ca o

instituţie de învăţământ superior puternic legată de mediul socio-economic din regiune.

Înfiinţarea învăţământului superior la Reșiţa, în anul 1971, a fost determinată de nevoia

furnizării de specialiști către industria locală, care la acel moment aniversa 200 de ani de la pornirea primelor furnale. După 1990

economia judeţului Caraș-Severin a început

să-și schimbe structura, scăzând ponderea

industriilor tradiţionale (construcţii de mașini,

siderurgie, minerit) și crescând ponderea

serviciilor și industriilor ușoare. În acest

context, Universitatea „Eftimie Murgu” și-a

lărgit oferta educaţională, studiilor inginerești

adăugându-li-se studii economice și studii din

sfera știinţelor sociale.

Astăzi, când dinamica evoluţiei tehnologice este una foarte spectaculoasă, determinând

și schimbări sociale majore, învăţământul

superior reșiţean își adaptează conţinuturile

programelor de studii, astfel încât absolvenţii

să dobândească competenţele solicitate de

piaţa muncii, iar procesul educaţional să fie

unul modern și centrat pe student.

Training highly qualified professionals is one of the most important factors leading to the development of a community. During its entire existence, the University „Eftimie Murgu” of Reşiţa has defined itself as a higher education institution solidly connected to the social-economic environment in the region.

The establ ishment of the academic

education in Reșiţa, in the year 1971, was determined by the need for providing specialists to the local industry, which at that time was celebrating 200 years from the commissioning of the first furnaces. After

1990 the economy of Caraș-Severin county has started to change its structure, and the weight of traditional industries has been continually diminished (i.e. machine building, metallurgy, mining) as the weight of light industries and services kept increasing. In this context, the University „Eftimie Murgu” has expanded its educational offer, the engineering studies being completed by economic sciences and studies from the social sciences sphere.

Nowadays, when the dynamics of the technological evolution is very spectacular, also triggering major social changes, Reşiţa's higher education keeps adapting the content of its study programmes, so that the graduates can acquire the competences and skills required on the labour market, and the educational process keeps following a modern, student-focus approach.

Studiile universitare la Universitatea„Eftimie Murgu” din

Reșiţa sunt organizate pe cele trei cicluri corespunzătoare

procesului Bologna: studii de licenţă, de masterat și de doctorat. La aceste forme de studii se adaugă cursuri de

formare continuă, oferite prin centrele de formare și

perfecţionare ale universităţii. Infrastructura folosită în

procesul educaţional este una modernă. Universitatea dispune de spaţii ce se desfăşoară pe o suprafaţă totală

de 34.438 metri pătraţi, din care pentru învăţământ şi

cercetare 28.026 metri pătraţi şi 6.412 metri pătraţi spaţii de tip cămin – cantină.

Învăţământul superior este strâns legat de cercetare. Pe

parcursul existenţei sale Universitatea „Eftimie Murgu”

din Reșiţa a abordat teme de cercetare fundamentală și, în special, teme de cercetare aplicativă, care au răspuns

unor nevoi ale mediului socio-economic regional și

naţional. În abordarea acestor teme universitatea

reșiţeană a colaborat cu instituţii de profil din ţară şi din Europa. În special în ultimii 20 de ani, odată cu implementarea programului Erasmus în România,

parteneriatele internaţionale ale universităţii s-au

dezvoltat puternic, atât în ceea ce privește mobilităţile

studenţești, cât și sub aspectul temelor de cercetare comune.

Primii ani ai secolului XXI ne indică faptul că viitorul apropiat va presupune dinamism, schimbări rapide, provocări noi. Universitatea „Eftimie Murgu” acţionează

tocmai în această direcţie, aceea de a forma absolvenţi

pregătiţi pentru acest mediu în continuă schimbare și de a

furniza soluţii competitive la problemele mediului socio-economic regional.

The university studies at the University „Eftimie Murgu”

of Reșiţa are organised along the three cycles corresponding to the Bologna process: bachelor, master and doctoral studies. Besides these forms of training we also offer lifelong learning courses, supplied by the university training and improvement centres. The infrastructure used in the educational process is quite modern. The University has facilities and premises deployed on a total surface of 34,438 square metres, of which 28,026 square metres for learning and research and 6,412 square metres for hostel and canteen spaces.

Higher education is closely connected to research. During its existence, the University „Eftimie Murgu” of

Reșiţa has approached fundamental research themes and especially themes of applied research, which responded to certain needs of the regional and national social and economic environment. In the approach of these themes the Reşiţa University has collaborated with similar institutions from the country and from Europe. Especially in the past 20 years, along with the implementation of the Erasmus programme in Romania, the international partnerships of the university have strongly developed, both as regards the students' mobilities and as regards the mutual research themes.

The first years of the 21st century indicate the fact that the near future shall suppose dynamism, rapid changes and new challenges. The University „Eftimie Murgu” is acting in this very direction, namely training graduates prepared for this continually changing environment and supplying competitive solutions to the problems of the social-economic regional environment.

„Eftimie Murgu“ UniversityIdentity

Universitatea „Eftimie Murgu” Reşiţa (acronim: UEMR) a preluat în denumirea sa numele patriotului bănăţean Eftimie Murgu, în semn de preţuire pentru această proeminentă personalitate bănăţeană şi naţională. Eftimie Murgu s-a născut la Rudăria, la data de 28.12.1805. Între anii 1834–1837, a fost cadru didactic la Academia Mihăileană din Iaşi şi apoi la Colegiul „Sf. Sava” din Bucureşti, în perioada 1837–1838 devenind mentorul unor ilustre personalităţi, printre care: Dimitrie Gusti, Ion Ionescu de la Brad, C. A. Rosetti şi Nicolae Bălcescu. S-a remarcat ca militant activ pentru unirea Banatului cu Ţara Românească. În zilele 16-17 mai şi 27 iunie 1848 a participat la Adunarea Revoluţionarilor de la Lugoj, care l -a desemnat „Căp i tan Genera l a l Banatului”. Cu acea ocazie s-a adoptat programul drepturilor românilor din Banat, intitulat „Petiţia Neamului Românesc din Ungaria”, prin care se cerea: înfiinţarea unei armate populare române prin înarmarea poporului, organizarea Banatului ca un Căpitanat General, recunoaşterea limbii române ca limbă oficială în tot Banatul şi independenţa Bisericii Române din Banat de cea Biserica Sârbă. La 1 iulie 1848, Eftimie Murgu a fost ales parlamentar la Pesta, din partea cercurilor electorale Lugoj, Oraviţa şi Făget, poziţie din care a susţinut Programul revoluţionarilor de la Lugoj. Marele patriot bănăţean a închis ochii pentru veşnicie la 12 mai 1870 şi a fost înmormântat în cimitirul Kerepesy din Budapesta.

The University “Eftimie Murgu” of Reşiţa (acronym: UEMR) has adopted the name of the Banat patriot Eftimie Murgu in its denomination, as a token of respect for this prominent Banat and Romanian personality. Eftimie Murgu was born at Rudaria on December 28th 1805. Between 1834 and 1837 he was a teacher at the Mihăileană Academy in Yassy and then at the “Saint Sava” College in Bucharest, from 1837 to 1838. He became the mentor of some illustrious personalities, among whom: Dimitrie Gusti, Ion Ionescu de la Brad, C. A. Rosetti and Nicolae Bălcescu. He remarked himself as an arduous fighter for the union of Banat to Wallachia. On 16-17 May and on 27 June 1848 he took par t in the Revolutionaries' Assembly in Lugoj, who nominated him “The General Captain of Banat”. On that occasion one adopted the programme for the r ights of Banat Romanians, entitled “ Petition of the Romanian People of Hungary”, asking for the establishment of a Romanian people's army by arming the people, organisation of Bana t as a Gene ra l Cap ta indom, recognition of the Romanian language an official language throughout Banat and independence for the Romania Church. On the 1st of July 1848, Eftimie Murgu was elected a Member of Parliament in Pesta, from the part of the electoral circuits of Lugoj, Oraviţa and Făget, position who enabled him to support the Programme of the Lugoj Revolutionaries. The great patriot of Banat passed away on the 12th of May 1870 and was buried in the Kerepesy cemetery of Budapest.

Până la data de 23.05.2008, sigla universităţii a fost o carte deschisă. La începutul anului 2008, odată cu declanşarea unui amplu proces de modernizare a universităţii reşiţene, sigla a fost modificată prin hotărâre a Senatului. Sigla nouă, mai stilizată, preia simbolistica iniţială a cărţii deschise spre adâncurile cunoaşterii, dar totodată şi imaginea unor aripi întinse spre văzduh. Sloganul UEMR este: „Modelează-ţi viitorul cu noi!”.

Ziua Universităţii „Eftimie Murgu” este 29 martie, ziua în care s-a semnat, în anul 1971, hotărârea de înfiinţare a Institutului de Subingineri Reşiţa (HCM nr.321 din 29 martie 1971).

Sediul universităţii se află în Piaţa Traian Vuia nr. 1-4, 320085 – Reşiţa, judeţul Caraş-Severin.

Patrimoniul Universităţii „Eftimie Murgu” Reşiţa este alcătuit din următoarele spaţii şi clădiri:- un campus universitar, alcătuit din cinci corpuri de clădire (A, B, C, D şi E), situat în centru municipiului Reşiţa;- un punct de lucru în Caransebeş;- cămin şi cantină studenţească, aflate în apropierea campusului universitar;- o sală de sport (în construcţie);- o casă de cultură a studenţilor;- un campus universitar de vară, situat în localitatea Coronini, pe malul Dunării.

Until the 23rd of May 2008, the university's emblem was an open book. At the beginning of 2008, as part of an ample process of the university modernisation, the emblem was changed by the decision of the Senate. The new emblem, more stylised, takes over the initial symbolistics of the book opened toward the depths of knowledge, but also suggests the image of wings spread out to the skies. The slogan of the UEMR is: “Designing your future!”.

The Official Day of the University “Eftimie Murgu” is on the 29th of March, when, back in 1971, one signed the decision to establish the Reşiţa Engineering College / Institute (Government Decision HCM no.321 of the 29th of March 1971).

The university headquarters are situated at the address: Traian Vuia Square no. 1-4, 320085 – Reşiţa, Caraş-Severin county.

The patrimony of the University “Eftimie Murgu” of Reşiţa is made of the following premises and buildings:- university campus, made of five wings (A, B, C, D and E), situated at the very centre of the town of Reşiţa;- working point in Caransebeş;- students' hostel and canteen situated close to the main campus;- sports hall (under construction);- students' culture home;- summer university campus, situated in the Coronini village, on the Danube's shore.

Începând cu anul 2005, odată cu înfiinţarea în UEMR a Comisiei pentru Evaluarea şi Asigurarea Calităţii (CEAC), universitatea a implementat şi dezvoltat un sistem modern de asigurare a calităţii, în conformitate cu prevederile legale în domeniul asigurării calităţii educaţiei, standardele de calitate ale ARACIS şi l ini i le directoare formulate de Asoc ia ţ i a Eu ropeană pen t ru Asigurarea Calităţii în Învăţământul Superior (ENQA) în „Standardele şi liniile directoare pentru asigurarea calităţii în învăţământul superior european”. Acest sistem, care dispune de toate instrumentele necesare pentru realizarea ciclului complet „Plan - Do - Check - Act”, a contribuit la creşterea continuă a calităţii educaţiei, cercetării şi serviciilor suport pentru studenţi şi cadre didact ice, precum şi la dezvoltarea unei veritabile culturi instituţionale a calităţii.În prezent, toate programele de studii din oferta educaţională a Universităţii „Eftimie Murgu” din Reşiţa au fost evaluate de către Agenţia Română pentru Asigurarea Cal i tăţ i i în Învăţământul Superior cu cel mai înalt calificativ, respectiv „încredere”.Politica universităţii în domeniul asigurării calităţii este prezentată sintetic în Declaraţia Rectorului privind politica pentru calitate şi descrisă în Manualul sistemului de management al calităţii.

Starting with 2005, along with the establishment in UEMR of the Commission for Quality Assessment a n d A s s u r a n c e ( C E A C ) , t h e university has implemented and developed a modern system of quality assurance, in accordance with the legal provision in the field of education quality assurance , the ARACIS quality standards and the gu ide l ines fo rmula ted by the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) in „Standards and guidelines for quality assurance in the European higher education”. This system, wh ich has a l l t he necessary instruments for the realisation of the full circle „Plan - Do - Check - Act”, has contr ibuted to the permanent increase of the quality of education, research and support services for students and teachers, and the development of a true quality culture.At present, all the programmes of study in the educational offer of the University „Eftimie Murgu” of Reşiţa h a v e b e e n a s s e s s e d b y t h e Romanian Agency for Qual i ty Assurance in Higher Education, and ranked with the highest grade.The policy of the university in the domain of quality assurance is synthet ical ly presented in the Rector's Declaration regarding the quality policy and described in the Manual of the quality management system.

The specific objectives related to the assurance and improvement of the quality of all activities carried on in the university is detailed in the strategic plans and operational plans of the university. The degree of reaching these goals is analysed by the Commission for Quality Assessment and Assurance (CEAC), who annually forward the Senate of UEMR a Report of internal quality assessment in the University „Eftimie Murgu” of Reşiţa. This Report is accessible to the public on the University web page.

Viziune Vision

Perioada următoare va fi marcată, în continuare, de efectele schimbărilor demografice şi, prin aceasta, de reducerea populaţiilor de studenţi. Indiferent de profilul şi mărimea lor, de regiunea de origine şi nivelul de dezvoltare al acesteia, universităţile vor fi nevoite, pentru a nu fi depăşite de vremuri, să ţină pasul cu acestea. Conservatorismul tradiţional, specific mediului academic, va trebui să fie î n l o c u i t d e i n i ţ i a t i v ă ş i s p i r i t ant reprenor ia l , desch idere spre schimbare şi adaptare la context.

Pe de altă parte, o provocare la fel de mare o constituie aceea a necesităţii de modificare a modului de abordare a procesului didactic. Generaţiile actuale de studenţi s-au schimbat radical, iar metodele clasice de predare/învăţare în cazul „nativilor digitali” (Marc Prensky Digital Natives, Digital Immigrants from On the Horizon, MCB University Press, Vol. 9 No. 5, October 2001) se dovedesc a fi tot mai ineficiente. În aceste condiţii, se impune în mod evident necesitatea impementării unor tehnici noi, orientate mai pregnant spre rezultate („learning outcomes”) şi bazate pe învăţarea activă („active learning”), tehnici capabile să capteze interesul studenţilor („learning is fun”) şi să le stimuleze creativitatea („learning by doing”).

The following period shall continue to be marked by demographic changes and thus the reduction of the student's population. Irrespective of the profile and s ize, or ig in reg ion and level o f development, universities shall have to keep the pace with them, in order to avoid falling behind its times. Traditional conservatorism, specific to the academic environment, shall have to b e r e p l a c e d b y i n i t i a t i v e a n d entrepreneurial spirit, openness to change and adaptation to context.

On the other hand, an equally serious challenge is the need for changing the way of approaching the didactic process. The present generations of students have changed radically, and the classical methods of teaching and learning in the case of “digital natives” (Marc Prensky Digital Natives, Digital Immigrants from On the Horizon, MCB University Press, Vol. 9 No. 5, October 2001) proves to be more and more inefficient. Under these circumstances, it is obviously necessary to implant new techniques, more poignantly focused on results („learning outcomes”) and based on an active approach („active learning”), techniques able to capture the interest of students („learning is fun”) and to stimulate their creativity („learning by doing”).

For the next years, the University „Eftimie Murgu” of Reşiţa aims at affirming more decisively its status of university focused on education and applied scientific research and to approach, in all the programmes of studies provided, active teaching and learning methods, meant to assure for the graduates the acquisition of thorough theoretic knowledge, supported by practical abilities and solid cross competencies.

Furthermore, the university aims at maintaining its position of university preponderantly supplying appl ied research, focused on immediate outcomes in industry and society, as well as know-how transfer to the business environment and the local publ ic institutional milieu.

Oraşul Reşiţa, situat în partea de sud-vest a României, pe malurile râului Bârzava, în vecinătatea Munţilor Semenic, este unul dintre cele mai vechi şi mai renumite centre metalurgice şi constructoare de maşini din România, debutul său industrial producându-se cu mai bine de două veacuri în urmă, la data de 4 iulie 1771.

Ancorat în această tradiţie industrială şi având misiunea de a forma specialişti cu pregătire superioară pentru regiunea de origine, în 1971, anul bicentenarului uzinelor reşiţene, la Reşiţa se înfiinţează Institutul de Subingineri, subordonat Institutului Po l i t ehn i c “Tra i an Vu ia ” d i n Timişoara. Nouăsprezece de ani mai tâ rz iu , în 1990, Ins t i tu tu l de Subingineri devine Facultatea de Inginerie din Reşiţa, aflată tot în structura prestigioasei universităţi timişorene. La acea vreme, oferta de studii cuprindea cinci specializări cu p ro f i l i ng ineresc : Tehno log ia construcţiilor de maşini, Utilajul şi tehnologia sudării, Electromecanică, Deformări plastice şi tratamente termice şi Turnarea metalelor.

The town of Reşiţa, situated in the south-west of Romania, along the Bârzava river and near the Semenic Mountains, is one of the oldest and most famous industrial centres of our country for metallurgy and machine-bui ld ing, i ts industr ia l h is tory beginning more than two centuries ago, on July 4th 1771

Anchored in this industrial tradition and having the mission to shape highly –trained specialists for the origin region, in 1971, the year of the bi-centennial of the Reşiţa plants, one established in Reşiţa the Engineering College / Institute, subordinated to the “Traian Vuia” Polytechnic Institute of Timişoara. Nineteen years later, in 1990, the Engineering College/ Institute of Reşiţa became the Faculty of Engineering of Reşiţa, still in the structure of the prestigious Timişoara university. At that time, the studies p r o v i d e d c o m p r i s e d f i v e specialisations with engineering profile: Machine-Building Technology, Welding Equipment and Technology, E l e c t r o m e c h a n i c s , P l a s t i c Deformation and Heat Treatments, and Metal Casting.

An exceptional moment in the evolution of the superior learning in Reşiţa was the year 1992, when the autonomous university “Eftimie Murgu” was founded, having two

Politehnica timişoreană, având în s t r u c t u r a s a d o u ă f a c u l t ă ţ i : Facultatea de Inginerie (FI) şi Facultatea de Drept şi Şti inţe Economice (FDSE), care, la data de 1 octombrie 1995, devine Facultatea d e Ş t i i n ţ e E c o n o m i c e ş i Administrative (FSEA).

În urma unui amplu proces de restructurare, devenit necesar ca urmare a creşter i i cont inue a numărului de studenţi şi cadre didactice şi a diversificării ofertei de studii, începând cu anul universitar 2011/2012 universitatea reşiţeană este organizată pe şase facultăţi, după cum urmează: Facultatea de Mecanică şi Ingineria Materialelor, Facultatea de Inginerie Electrică şi Informatică, Facultatea de Inginerie şi Management, Facultatea de Ştiinţe Economice, Facultatea de Ştiinţe Administrative şi Facultatea de Ştiinţe Sociale şi ale Educaţiei, care, din anul 2013, se regrupează în: F a c u l t a t e a d e I n g i n e r i e ş i Management, Facultatea de Ştiinţe Economice şi Facultatea de Ştiinţe Sociale.

The mission of the department is to develop in a balanced manner the teaching activities through student-focused educat ion, based on knowledge able to assure the continuous training of specialists with higher training in the fields of economics, administrative sciences and humanities.

P r o g r a m e l e o f e r i t e d e Departamentul de Învăţământ la Distanţă pentru studii universitare de licenţă se organizează pe baza planurilor de învăţământ aprobate pentru aceleaşi specializări la zi.

Diplomele de licenţă obţinute în acest sistem conferă aceleaşi drepturi ca şi diplomele eliberate pentru forma de învăţământ la zi.

M e t o d o l o g i a d e p r e g ă t i r e a studenţ i lor este speci f ică, cu suporturi de curs în format electronic şi pachete de curs tehnoredactate, cu 2 – 3 perioade compacte de instruire, întâlniri periodice pentru desfăşurarea activităţilor practice obligatorii prevăzute în planurile de învăţământ.

Învăţământul de tip e-learning este implementat prin intermediul unei plaforme electornice de tip Moodle.

The programmes provided by the Department for Distant Learning for bachelor studies is organised based on the curricula approved for the same specialisation for full time studies.

The Bachelor's Degree Diplomas granted in this system confer the same rights as the diplomas issued for the full time studies.

T h e s t u d e n t s ' t r a i n i n g methodology is rather specific, with the lecture supports in electronic format and printed lec ture packages, wi th 2-3 compact periods of training, periodical sessions in order to carry on the mandatory practical ac t i v i t i es s t ipu la ted in the curricula.

Centrul de Cercetări în Hidraulică Automatizări şi Procese Termice (CCHAPT) înfiinţat în 1997, este principala unitate de cercetare a Universităţii "Eftimie Murgu" Reşiţa. Are o dotare de excepţie pentru efectuarea unor lucrări de cercetare pe utilaje energetice de mare putere. Specialiştii care lucrează în acest centru de cercetare au o pregătire profesională deosebită şi o experienţă bogată în activitatea de cercetare.

În cadrul Centrului de Cercetări în Hidraulică, Automatizări şi Procese Termice funcţionează Laboratorul pentru analize metalografice ş i măsură tor i de per forman ţă pe hidroagregate „ExpertLAB”, finanţat din resurse interne, resurse bugetare şi din fonduri rezultate din participarea CCHAPT la programe europene şi programe de cercetare naţională printre care Programul “Cercetare de Excelenţă – Modul IV – Dezvoltarea infrastructurii pentru evaluarea şi certificarea conformităţii “, CEEX – M4 – C2 - 624.

The Centre of Research in Hydraulics, Automation and Head Processes (CCHAPT) established in 1997, is the main research unit of the University "E f t i m i e Mu rg u " R e s i t a . I t i s exceptionally equipped for performing certain research works on high power energetic equipment. The specialists who work in this research centre have a r e m a r k a b l e p r o f e s s i o n a l background and a rich expertise in the research activity.

Within the Centre of Research in Hydraulics, Automation and Heat Processes we find in operation the “ E x p e r t L A B ” L a b o r a t o r y f o r m e t a l l o g r a p h i c a n a l y s e s a n d performance measurements on hydro units, financed from internal and budgetary resources, as well as from funds earned from the participation of t h e C C H A P T i n E u r o p e a n programmes and national research programmes, among which the Programme “ Excellence Research– Modu le IV – Deve lopmen t o f infrastructure for the conformity evaluation and certification“, CEEX – M4 – C2 - 624.

Analele Universităţii "Eftimie Murgu", publicate de Universitatea "Eftimie Murgu" din Resita, au fost înfiinţate în 1994. Include lucrări care reflectă cercetările teoretice şi experimentale realizate de propriile cadre didactice şi de către cercetătorii din instituţiile partenere din întreaga lume.

Din 2005 revista a dobândit o dimensiune internaţională, fiind publicate în limba engleză. În prezent sunt incluse în Baze de Date 13Internaţionale. Publicaţia este de tip peer-reviewed.

Analele Universităţii „Eftimie Murgu” Reşiţa (UEMR), Fascicola Studii Economice, a fost pentru prima oară publicată în 1994, de atunci până acum marcând în fiecare an o maturizare a rezultatelor ştiinţifice cultivate de către această revistă. Rev is ta apare anua l , în luna noiembrie. În prezent, revista este indexată în două baze de date internaţionale (Index Copernicus şi EBSCO).

De-a lungul timpului, în Analele U E M R , F a s c i c o l a I I - S t u d i i Economice, au publicat cu succes articole ştiinţifice cadre universitare şi cercetători din domeniul economic din ţară şi străinătate.

Analele Universităţii "Eftimie Murgu" din Reşiţa, prin Fascicola de Ştiinţe S o c i a l - U m a n i s t e , d o r e ş t e s ă p r o m o v e z e a t â t c e r c e t a r e a fundamentală, cât şi cercetarea ştiinţifică aplicativă. The Annals of the Univesity "Eftimie Murgu" of Resita, by the Fascicle of Social-Humanist Sciences wants to promote both the fundamental research and the applied scientific research. In this bulletin, we will present the preoccupations of the specialists in the field of social-humanist sciences, the preoccupations centered on complex issues, anchored in the present-day scientific research.

The multidisciplinary areas of research and the desire to cover a wide range of soc ia l -humanis t research have determined the inclusion of some fields of real interest in its content: public administration, law, social security, educat ional sc iences, phys ica l education and sport, didactic orthodox theology, sociology, encouraging an interdisciplinary thematical approach.

Robotica & Management

Primul număr al revistei “Robotica & Management” a apărut în luna iulie 1990, aceasta fiind editată de Asociaţia de Robotică din România. În prezent publicaţia este editată de: Societatea de Robotică din România, Universitatea ''Eftimie Murgu'' din Reşiţa, Consiliul Judeţean Caraş-Severin şi Universitatea ''Politehnica'' din Timişoara. Apariţia este bianuală.Începând cu anul 2004, colegiul ştiinţific al revistei este internaţional.

Prin publicarea de articole ştiinţifice, revista îşi propune promovarea Roboticii şi Managementului atât ca domenii de cercetare cât şi în aplicaţii industriale şi economice.Articolele apărute în revistă tratează probleme privind: sistemul mecanic al roboţilor industriali şi pentru servicii, acţionarea şi comanda roboţilor, aplicaţii ale roboţilor, robotizarea sistemelor de prelucrare, studiul sistemelor flexibile de fabricaţie, modelarea şi simularea pe calculator, managementul.

"Robotica & Management" este indexată în şapte baze de date internaţionale.

The f i r s t i ssue o f "Robo t i ca & Management" journal appeared in July 1 9 9 0 , b e i n g p u b l i s h e d b y t h e Association for Robotics of Romania.At present the publication is edited by the Robotics Society of Romania, ''Eftimie Murgu'' University of Resita, Caras-Severin County Council and ''Politehnica'' University of Timisoara. The apparition is bi-annual.In 2004, the journal's Scientific Board became international.

By publishing scientific papers, the journal aims at promoting Robotics and Management both as research domains and in indust r ia l and economic applications. The papers published in the journal cove r p rob lems rega rd ing : t he mechanical system of industrial and service robots, robots driving and command, robo ts app l i ca t ions , robotisation of manufacturing systems, study of flexible manufacturing systems, computer modelling and simulation, management.

Biblioteca The library

Un rol important în susţ inerea procesului de învăţământ şi a activităţii de cercetare revine bib l ioteci i universităţii. Universitatea dispune de bibliotecă proprie, dotată cu 4 săli de lectură şi studiu, dintre care una cu acces la raft şi una cu acces la Internet. Suprafaţă totală este de 388 mp, iar capacitatea de 161 locuri.

Accesul studenţilor în sălile de lectură este asigurat, pe perioada desfăşurării activităţilor didactice, cinci zile pe săptămână (luni-joi, între orele 8:00-20:00, iar vinerea în intervalul orar 8:00-18:00), iar în sesiuni zilnic, inclusiv sâmbăta şi duminica (8:00-13:00).

În ultimii ani biblioteca a fost supusă unui amplu proces de modernizare, care s-a realizat în colaborare cu B i b l i o t e c a u n i v e r s i t a r ă a - W e s t f ä l i s c h e H o c h s c h u l e Gelsenkirchen, Germania. S-a implementat astfel un sistem de management bibliotecar performant (KOHA) şi s-a asigurat instruirea persona lu lu i d in b ib l io tecă în Germania, la universitatea parteneră.Biblioteca UEMR dispune de un fond de carte de peste 80.000 de volume, publicaţi i periodice, resurse de documentare electronice (Science

An important part in the support of the educational process and of the research activity is played by the University Library. The university has its own library, with 3 reading and study rooms, among which one with access to the shelves and one with access to the Internet. Its total surface is of 388 sq.m., and it can accommodate 161 readers at a time.

The students' access to the reading rooms is assured, during the didactic activities, five days a week (Monday through Thursday, between 8:00-20:00, and on Fridays from 8:00 to 18:00), and daily during the sessions of exams, including on Saturdays and Sundays (8:00-13:00).

In the last years the library underwent an ample modernisation process, achieved in co-operation with the University Library of the Westfälische Hochschule Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Thus, a high-performance library system (KOHA) was implemented and the partner university provided the training of the library staff at its premises in Germany.

Centrul de Cercetări pentru Protecţia Mediului şi a Bunurilor Culturale în Arealul European („Victor Duculescu”) din cadrul universităţii dispune de o importantă colecţie de carte de drept internaţ ional în limbile română, franceză şi engleză. The Centre of Research for the Protection of the Environment and Cultural Assets in the European Area (“„Victor Duculescu”) within the university disposes of an important collection of international law books in Romanian, French and English; the 1800 volumes, of which the oldest one dates as back as 1840, reunite rare titles from the domain of public, private, European, diplomatic and consular law, as well as humanitarian law and human rights. The volumes are accessible to the bachelor and master students from the specialised profiles.

“Eftimie Murgu” Publishing House

Editura „Eftimie Murgu“ a fost înfiinţată în anul 1998 sub egida Universităţii "Eftimie Murgu" Reşiţa. Cărţile publicate în decursul anilor sunt rezultatul activităţii de cercetare ştiinţifică fundamentală şi aplicativă a cadrelor didactice din universitatea reşiţeană şi din alte universităţi din ţară, precum şi a specialiştilor din mediul socio-economic. Activitatea editurii a fost evaluată de către Consiliul Naţional al Cercetării Ştiinţifice din Învăţământul Superior (CNCSIS), editura fiind inclusă pe l ista edituri lor recunoscute de aceasta instituţie.

În vederea susţinerii procesului didactic, UEMR subvenţionează editarea cursurilor universitare realizate de cadrele didactice proprii şi le oferă spre vânzare studenţilor săi prin standul de carte amenajat în cadrul Bibliotecii Universitare.

Volumele sunt publicate în trei co lec ţ i i : „Or izontur i tehn ice” , „Orizonturi economice”, „Orizonturi socio-umane”.

The Eftimie Murgu Publishing House was created in 1998 under the aegis of the University "Eftimie Murgu" Reşiţa. The books published during the years h a v e b e e n t h e r e s u l t o f t h e fundamental and applied scientific research of the teachers from the Reşiţa university and from other universities in the country, as well as of specialists from the social-economic environment. The activity of the publishing house was evaluated by the Nat iona l Counc i l o f Sc ien t i f i c Research in Higher Educat ion (CNCSIS), the publishing house being included in the list of publishing houses recognised by this institution.

In view of supporting the didactic process, UEMR subsidies the editing of academic courses of lectures elaborated by the internal teaching staff and offer them to the students to purchase through the book stand set up within the University Lybrary.

The volumes are published in three collections: “Technical Horizons”, “Economic Hor i zons” , “Soc ia l Sciences and Humanities Horizons”.

The university has its own printing house, assuring the multiplication of laboratory practice guides, manuals, support courses of lectures destined to the students of the Distance Learning Department and of other didactic materials necessary for the process of higher education.

The technical endowment of the printing house corresponds to the requirements for editing high-quality publications, irrespective of the number of copies.

Due to the quality of the printing materials realised, but also to the financial measures taken by the university in view of supporting the activity of elaborating courses of lectures and other works necessary for the educational process, the number of books and didactic manuals has increased.

Universitatea are o tipografie proprie, c a r e a s i g u r ă m u l t i p l i c a r e a îndrumătoarelor de laborator, a manualelor, a suporturilor de curs d e s t i n a t e s t u d e n ţ i l o r d e l a Departamentul de Învăţământ la Distanţă şi a altor materiale didactice necesare procesului de învăţământ superior.

Accommodation and canteen services for the students

Universitatea „Eftimie Murgu” Reşiţa urmăreşte să ofere studenţilor săi servicii suport de cea mai bună calitate.

Spaţiile de cazare şi masă sunt situate în incinta corpului D al universităţii (P-ţa Traian Vuia nr. 1-4) precum şi în complexul cămin cantină (str. Roşiorilor) situat în centrul oraşului Reşiţa, la 800 de metri de campusul central.

Complexul cămin - cantină a trecut în ultimii ani printr-un amblu proces de reabilitare. La finalizarea acestui proces capacitatea de cazare va fi de 370 de locuri, studenţii vor beneficia de săli de studiu, recreere, două oficii p e n t r u s e r v i r e a m e s e i ş i o spălătorie/uscătorie, astfel încât condiţiile oferite acestora să se ridice la nivelul standardelor europene actuale.

Cantina universităţii, amplasată în acelaşi complex cu căminul, a fost modernizată complet în ultimii ani. Ea are o suprafaţă utilă de cca. 2.037 mp şi permite servirea mesei de către un număr de 250 studenţi pe serie.

The University „Eftimie Murgu” of Reşiţa aims at offering its students best-quality support services.

The accommodation and catering facilities are situated in the D Wing of the university, within the premises of the central campus (1-4, Traian Vuia Square) as well as in the hostel-canteen compound (Roşiorilor street), situated downtown, 800 metres from the central campus.

The hostel-canteen compound has undergone these past years a comprehens ive re fu rb ishment process. At the finalisation of this process the accommodation capacity will increase to 370 places, the students shall benefit from study rooms, recreat ion rooms, two kitchenettes for meal serving and a washing / drying room, so that the conditions offered to them could reach the level of the current European standards.

The university canteen, located in the same compound with the hostel, was fully modernised in the past years. It has a useful surface of around 2,037 sq.m. and allows serving meals to a number of 250 students per series.

În Corpul D din Campusul universitar se află încă 9 camere, cu o capacitate de cazare totală de 18 persoane, destinate studenţilor ERASMUS veniţi de la universităţile partenere din Europa şi altor persoane, care desfăşoară temporar activităţi în U E M R ( p r o f e s o r i i n v i t a ţ i d i n străinătate, parteneri ai proiectelor de cercetare, etc.). Toate camerele au fost recent modernizate şi sunt prevăzute cu grupuri sanitare şi cabine de duş proprii, conexiune la internet şi televiziune prin cablu şi mobilier modern. În plus, garsonierele şi apartamentele dispun de televizor şi frigider.

Începând cu luna octombrie 2010, în campusul universitar central s-a dat în funcţiune cea de-a doua cantină, cu o capacitate de 300 persoane pe serie. Aceasta oferă studenţilor, cadrelor didactice, cercetătorilor şi invitaţilor universităţii posibilitatea de servire a mesei de prânz de luni până vineri, între orele 12:30 – 15:30.

In the D Wing of the central campus there are another 9 rooms with total accommodation capacity for 18 persons, destined to the ERASMUS s t u d e n t s c o m e f r o m p a r t n e r universities of Europe and other persons who temporarily carry out ac t iv i t ies in the UEMR (guest professors from abroad, partners in research projects, etc.). All the rooms have been recently refurbished and each has its shower bathroom, Internet connection and cable TV, as well as modern furniture. Moreover, the rooms and apartments have TVs and refrigerators.

In October 2010, we opened the second canteen in the central campus with a capacity of 300 persons per series. It offers students, teachers, researchers and guests of the university the possibility to have lunch there, for Monday till Friday, between 12:30 – 15:30.

Casa de Cultură a Studenţilor din Reşiţa organizează acţiuni cultural-artistice care vizează:- creşterea participării tinerilor la viaţa societăţii;- stimularea creativităţii şi iniţiativelor tinerilor;- sprijinirea voluntariatului;- facilitarea accesului la actul de cultură şi creşterea consumului cultural la tineri;- sprijinirea şi stimularea creativităţii culturale;- p r o m o v a r e a , s u s ţ i n e r e a ş i recompensarea tinerelor talente;- sprijinirea procesului de educare şi formare continuă;- spri j inirea de acţiuni privind informarea, consilierea şi orientarea în carieră;- dezvoltarea şi diversif icarea acţiunilor de timp liber, vacanţă, sport şi turism pentru tineri.

În cadru l Casei de Cul tură a Studenţilor funcţionează următoarele formaţi i şi cercuri studenţeşti : Ansamblul de cântece şi dansuri populare româneşti "Flori de Mai", Centrul Media Studenţesc, Centrul pentru gestiunea carierei, Centrul pentru protejarea vieţii, Clubul de dans sportiv “Dream Dance”, Trupa PHASER, Trupa SLIDE, Cenaclul literar "UNIVERSITAS", clubul de fotografie.

The Students' Culture Home of Reşiţa organises cultural-artistic actions aiming at:-increasing the youth participation in the society life;-simulating youth creativity and initiatives; -supporting volunteering;-facilitating the access to the cultural acts and increasing the cultural consumption among the young people;-supporting and stimulating cultural creativity;-promoting, supporting and rewarding young talents;-supporting the educational process and lifelong learning; -supporting actions related to the information, counselling and career orientation;-developing and diversifying the activities of leisure, vacations, sports and tourism for the youth.

The Students' Culture Home hosts the following students' formations and clubs: the Ensemble of Romanian folk songs and dances "Flori de Mai / May Flowers", the Students' Media Centre, the Centre of Career Management, the Centre for life protection, the Sports Dance Club “Dream Dance”, the PHASER band, the SLIDE band, the literary Club "UNIVERSITAS", the photography club.

Scopul principal al Ligii Studenţilor din cadrul Universităţii „Eftimie Murgu” Reşiţa este de a reprezenta drepturile ş i in teresele profesionale a le studenţilor din UEMR şi de a stimula part ic iparea acestora la actul educaţional şi la viaţa socială, economică şi culturală prin: -asigurarea reprezentativităţii la toate n i v e l e l e d e c o n d u c e r e a l e universităţii; -apărarea drepturilor studenţilor;-participarea la procesul de evaluare a cadrelor didactice şi a sistemului de învăţământ;-organizarea evenimentelor cultural sportive studenţeşti.

Între activităţile desfăşurate în ultimii ani se numără: „Balul bobocilor”, „Studenţiada”, „Târgul de voluntariat”, „Târgul de turism”, „Ziua 0 împotriva vitezei şi neatenţiei la volan”, „Cupa de fotbal LSUEM”, „Târgul de carte”, „Carnaval de Halloween”, „Seara de Dragobete”, „Seara studenţească”, „Activităţi de ecologizare”, tabere de l u c r u î n e c h i p ă , s e m i n a r i (comunicare, antreprenoriat, scriere de proiecte).

The main goals of the Students' League within the University “Eftimie Murgu” Reşiţa is to represent the rights and professional interests of the UEMR students and to stimulate their participation in the educational act and in the social, economic and cultural life by: - assuring representativeness on all top management levels of the university - defending the students' rights;- par t ic ipat ing the process o f assessment of teachers and of the educational system;- organising students' cultural and sport events.

Clubul Sportiv Universitatea Reşiţa (CSU) organizează activităţi sportive de performanţă şi de masă, studenţii universităţii având la dispoziţie o bază sportivă ce cuprinde o sală de sport şi o sală de fitness, ambele amplasate în campusul universitar. La finele anului 2017 se vor finaliza lucrările de construcţie la noua Sală de Sport a universităţii, situată în imediata apropiere a sediului central.

Cele mai reprezentative ramuri sportive care funcţionează în cadrul CSU sunt atletismul, handbalul, înotul şi fotbalul. Se impun a fi subliniate rezultatele înregistrate de studenţii universităţii la competiţiile studenţeşti, în ultimii ani reuşindu-se câştigarea titlurilor naţionale universitare la handbal feminin, fotbal, atletism, precum şi un onorant loc IV la futsal, o b ţ i n u t l a J o c u r i l e M o n d i a l e Interuniversitare.

În anul 2009, la Universitatea „Eftimie Murgu” , a fost înfiinţat Cercul Olimpic „Academica”, un cerc al studenţilor universităţii ce aparţine de Academia Olimpică Română, filiala Caraş-Severin. Scopul acestui cerc este de a promova în rândul s tudenţ i lo r olimpismul ca filosofie de viaţă.

The Sports Club Universitatea / University Reşiţa (CSU) organises per formance and mass spor ts activities, the students of the university having at their disposal a sports complex comprising a gym and a fitness hall, both situated in the university campus. At the end of 2017 the building works at the new Sport Hall of the university will be finalised, sports hall situated in the vicinity of the central headquarters.

The most representative sports branches functioning within CSU are athletics, handball, swimming and football. We should underline the results obtained by the university students in the students' competitions; in the last few years they have succeed in winning the university national tiles at handball (women's competition), football, athletics, as well as an encouraging 4th place at footsall, obtained and the Inter-University World Championship.

In 2009, at the University “Eftimie M u r g u ” o n e e s t a b l i s h e d t h e “Academic” Olympic Circle, a circle of the university students, belonging to the Romanian Olympic Academy, Caraş-Severin branch. The purpose of this circle is to promote Olympism as life philosophy among students.

Show", „Târgul de Voluntariat”, „Vine licenţa”, „Ştiaţi că?”, „Unde sunt cineaştii?”, ateliere de machetism, fotografie, cineamatorism, activităţi în sprijinul politicilor de susţinere a unui mediu curat.

Asociaţia Absolvenţilor Universităţii „Eftimie Murgu” Reşiţa s-a înfiinţat în anul 2006 pentru a strânge legătura dintre universitate şi absolvenţii săi.Până în prezent acţiunile asociaţiei au vizat în special absolvenţii şi studenţii anilor terminali: facilitarea accesului abso lvenţ i lo r pe p ia ţa munci i , difuzarea informaţiilor legate de p r o g r a m e e x t e r n e d e s t u d i i postuniversitare, consultanţă privind etapele parcurse la finalizarea unui ciclu de studii. Aceste direcţii s-au materializat în seminarii de informare a studenţilor („Vine licenţa!”, „Cum să te prezinţi la un interviu”) precum şi în organizarea unei baze de date cu absolvenţii universităţii şi angajatorii din judeţ.

The mission of the Cogito Association Reş i ţa is to s t imula te the youth involvement in the social life, by attracting them towards non-formal education activities.The activities carried on by the members of the Cogito Association are mainly directed to students: „Youth Days” (twelve editions), „Art and Science”, “Fractal” summer school (ten editions), centre of information for students “Info-Centre”, "Science VIP Show", „Volunteering Fair”, „Here come the Bachelor finals”, „Did you know that?”, „Where are the cinema makers?”, scale modelling workshops, clubs of photography, cinema fans, activities for the support of the policies of promoting a clean environment.

The Alumni Association of the University "Eftimie Murgu" Reşiţa was established in 2006 in order to create a bond between the university and its graduates.Up to now the actions of the association have been especially focused upon the graduates and senior year students: facilitating the graduates' access to the labour marke t , d issemina t ion o f i n f o r m a t i o n r e l a t e d t o e x t e r n a l programmes of post-graduate studies, consulting regarding the stages covered when finalising a cycle of studies. These directions have been materialised in seminars of students' information („Here come the Bachelor finals!”, „How to behave during a job interview”) as well as in the organisation of a database with the university's alumni and county employers.

Relaţii internaţionale International relationships

Promovând o largă deschidere spre străinătate, Universitatea “Eftimie Murgu” Reşiţa îmbină în strategia dezvoltării învăţământului şi cercetării tradiţia înaintată a şcolii româneşti cu experienţa acumulată de instituţiile similare din alte ţări.

Începând din anul 1990, au fost stabilite parteneriate cu universităţi din Germania, Franţa, Austria, Italia, Grecia, Belgia, Spania, Polonia, Ungaria, Finlanda, Turcia, Serbia şi Republica Moldova, în cadrul cărora s-au realizat schimburi de studenţi, cadre didactice şi cercetători şi importante colaborări în domeniul dezvoltării curriculare şi al cercetării ştiinţifice.

În vederea intensificării şi facilitării mobilităţilor, universitatea participă la programul ERASMUS din anul 1997, primul an al lansării acestuia în România.

Promoting a wide opening towards Europe and the world, the University “Eftimie Murgu” of Reşiţa combines, in its development strategy for education and research, the enlightened tradition of the Romanian school with the experience acquired by similar institutions from other countries.

Selecţia studenţilor ERASMUS se r e a l i z e a z ă p r i n t r - u n p r o c e s t ransparent , care ţ ine cont de rezultatele la învăţătură, cunoştinţele de limbă străină, abilităţile de utilizare a calculatorului şi activităţile derulate în interesul comunităţii academice. La întoarcerea în ţară, universitatea asigură recunoaşterea academică completă a perioadelor de studiu sau pract ică real izate la partener i i europeni, prin transferul creditelor acumulate şi conversia notelor obţ inute. manifests the availability to support, through financial and / or technical means, the persons with physical disabilities or people socially or economically impaired.

The selection of the ERASMUS s t u d e n t s i s m a d e t h r o u g h a transparent process, which takes into account the results obtained at the subjects of the curriculum, the foreign language competencies, the computer skills and the activities performed in t h e i n t e r e s t o f t h e a c a d e m i c community. Once the students return to the country, our university assures the full academic recognition of the study period or the practice stage accomplished at the European partners, through the transfer of the credits acquired and the conversion of the marks obtained. For all the students, the recognition of the stages abroad is done in a centralised manner, through the Commission for the Recognition and Equivalence of the Periods of Studies Abroad, operating on the university level.
