Pietroasele is a commune in Buzău County, România,

composed of three villages: Câlțești, Clondiru de Sus, Dara,

Pietroasa Mica, Pietroasele and Șarânga. In the Large Hill

stretching on the southern slope of the Istrița Hill and the

least in the Piedmont plain at the foot of it. It is a known

Center of several archaeological sites, being discovered a

Dacian Citadel from the hillfort Gruiu Darii, a novel

Pietroasele and also a famous Gothic treasures.

Initially it was a Centre for the extraction of stone for constructions materials, today viticulture is the main economic branch of the village, known for his wine Tămâioasă românească.

Centre for research in viticulture here is run by University of Agronomical Sciences in Bucharest.

The government started a project of restoration of viticulture. Here they brought vine varietes from France and Italy. In the 1930's worked here and that schools were preparing specialists in viticulture. In 1928, the station was expanded oenological adding to a warning of the manna equipped with a mateorological station. Closed temporarily during the Communist era, the station was re-established and rebuilt in 1972.

In 2005 it was taken over by the University Administration towards Sciences Agronomic and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest. The most famous variety is grown in Romanian, Pietroasele Tămâioasă local variety is the most aromatic Muscat varietes produced in the country, taking advantage of the exposure to the South of slopes and soil aridity.

Pietroasele commune have conducted numerous archaeological finds dating from antiquity. In the area of Small Stones, on a hill called, Gruiu Darii have discovered traces of a Dacian, the geographical dictionary of the County consist of Basil Iorgulescu and published between 1892-1902 stated that there would be traces of the Fort Comidava. Below this fortress in Pietroasele, found remains of a roman stood up during the reign of Constantine the great, comprehensive destroyed.

As regards other economic branches, the municipality reside in 2008 three saws for woodworking and five animal farms. Several people in the municipality were authorised to carry out the activity of stonemason. Also, the municipality works a agro-touristic image takes advantage of the specific nature of the area, offering accommodations in the form of a barrel.
