Cantonat în satul Scheia d e lângă R o ­mi, colonelul P o p e s c u avansat cu ult imul • luase abia comanda reg imentulu i . A v e a •ai treizeci şi cinci d e ani. Căpătase , în Mi luni trei grade şi d o u ă decorat iuni : Mi-iai Viteazul şi delà Francez i , Leg iunea d e soare.
