Short History

Commercial Society PETRONEL inc. is one of the most important and renownedenterprises with their headquarters located in Ploiesti.

The basics for transporting oil through pipelines activities have been set in 1901, withthe construction of the first pipeline used for transporting petroleum between Bustenariand the CFR Baicoi train station in Prahova County. Proving itself to be a profitableactivity, the society expanded every year, becoming in 1912 the owner of an almost 180

km large pipe network.

For accomplishing their main activity Petronel has proper, suitable technical equipment,the main element composing the transportation system being: 

  Oil Tanks:  the company can dispose of a number of tanks situated insidepumping stations, loading ramps for oil tank trucks and delivery points forrefineries;

  Transporting pumps;

  Transporting pipelines: Petronel utilizes a pipe network for transportingpetroleum, gasoline and ethane throughout the country; 

  Installations and outbuildings.

The exploiting of new oil resources in Olt, Arges, Prahova and Dambovita counties,together with establishing new refineries at Brazi and Teleajen favorited the expandingof the pipe network.Throughout the time Petronel has been constantly preoccupied with its three resourcesand has been searching for new ways of attracting clients and maintaining the old ones.This way a perpetual modernization of the used equipment and technology has beenachieved to accelerate the growth rhythm of the company. 

In what concerns the resources, Petronel is a complex system because it incorporates

human resources as well as financial and material ones, each one assembled by agreat variety of elements amongst which multiple and strong connections areestablished.

 Although the majority of the companies tend not the make differences between genders,Petronel inc. is preoccupied by this matter because the enterprise is dealing withactivities specific to men, which allows us to observe that more than 80% of the numberof employees are men. Petronel currently has a number of 2250 people under theiremployment.

The enterprise’s material resources mainly consist of the transporting and distribution

network with their afferent buildings and the pipeline network.
