Iată-ne în Anul Nou…

Ce este clipa, ce este ora, ce

este timpul? Oare ce numim

noi, oamenii, timp?

Duhovnicesţe, vorb-

ind, timpul este intrarea

noastră în veşnicie. De

aceea este timpul nespus de

important pentru noi, im-

portant ca si veşnicia în cealal-

ta lume. De aceea fiecare zi es-

te foarte importantă în viaţa

noastră, fiecare noapte, fiecare

clipă, căci de fiecare clipă

depinde veşnicia no-

astră. Aceasta este, fraţilor si

surorilor, concepţia evangheli-

ca a timpului. Înţelegerea

timpului de către Hristos.

Timpul ne este dat ca prin el

sa câştigăm veşnicia.

Biserica în această

lume nu este nimic altceva

decât un atelier dumnezeiesc

în care timpul se transformă

în vesnicie, atelier dumnezei-

esc care ne învaţă înţelep-

ciunea, pentru ca fiecare zi să

o transformăm în vesnicie, de

la naştere până la trecerea la

cele veşnice. Aţi auzit cu-

vintele Mantuitorului, Evan-

ghelia Mântuitorului de Anul

Nou. El spune: “Am venit să

propovăduiesc anul plăcut

Domnului” (Luca 4, 19).

Let us learn from Christ how to pur-

sue this struggle.

In the Gospel of St. Matthew 4,1-11,

we meet Jesus coming out from the Jor-

dan and being led by the Holy Spirit into

the wilderness. He begins His earthly mis-

sion by fasting for forty days and nights.

What weakness some it strengthen others.

On the month of temptations, Jesus stand

up to Satan, the father of all deceptions

and lies.

The devil doubt His divinity and chal-

lenged Him. He tempted Him to: turn the

stone into bread, jump Himself form the

top of the roof top of the Temple and

temps Him with the dominion of the

earth. In other words, he temped Jesus by:

food, pride and thirst for power. In turn,

Jesus counter poses to these: the fasting to

greed, humility to pride and the command

of obedience as opposed to the temptation

of power.

At the beginning of the year, let us

treat each day as a gift from God and an

opportunity to accomplish acts of salva-

tion. Let’s never lose sight of the month of

temptations and feed our hearts with the

word of God instead of gluttony. Let as

call on the most holy name of Jesus and

we shall gain the spiritual discernment to

see the temptations and defeat them by

spiritual means that of gives us the fast,

prayer and good deeds.

With such ponderings, I wish all

Christ loving faithful a New Year filled

with spiritual fruits!

Council, Ladies Auxiliary, Church activi-

Grace and brighten your life during the

coming year and forever!

Domnul Hristos a binecuvântat tim-

pul. De când a coborât/născut în lumea no-

astră pământească şi a luat naştere anul

plăcut Domnului. Nouă ne sunt date puteri

dumnezeieşti, ca noi, oamenii, mici si săraci, să

putem umple pe pământ, zilele si nopţile noas-

tre, sufletele noastre si fiinţa noastră cu ceea ce

este veşnic, cu ceea ce este al lui Hristos, cu

ceea ce este ceresc. Un asemenea dar ne-a adus

Domnul nouă, oamenilor.

Aceasta este ziua pe care a făcut-o Dom-

nul (Psalmul117,24). Atunci, prin biruinţa

asupra morţii prin Înviere, prin biruinţa Sa

asupra diavolului, prin dreptatea asupra păca-

tului ne-a dăruit Viaţa vesnică, nemurirea. De

aceea, este acea zi pe care a facut-o Dom-

nul, ziua care a început de la Înviere si durează

vesnic, pentru fiecare om pe pamant.

De la Naşterea Domnului Hristos în

această lume, de la Învierea Sa fiecare zi es-

te ziua mântuirii căci este aici, in mijlocul

nostru, Domnul Hristos Cel Înviat, şi deasupra

noastră si în jurul nostru şi pretutindeni.

Atunci vine intrebarea firească - Omule, atunci

de ce zăbovesti? Pentru tine fiecare zi este ziua

mântuirii. Adună meride pentru viaţa cea

veşnică.

Fiecare zi, fiecare clipă este ziua mâ-

ntuirii. Amintiţi-vă de tâlharul de pe cruce

(Luca 23, 42-44). În momentul în care s-a

pocăit, pentru el a luat naştere nu numai ziua,

nu numai anul, nu numai mii de ani, ci intreaga

veşnicie. Ce s-a intâmplat cu Zaheu? In acea zi

în care a intrat Domnul în casa sa, atunci când

în sufletul lui Zaheu s-a întâmplat o mare

transfigurare prin întâlnirea cu Domnul – a lu-

at naştere veşnicia lui în comuniune cu

Dumnezeu (Luca 19, 2-9).Căci de atunci el şi-a

rânduit întreaga sa viaţă întru veşnicie, a mers

după Domnul şi a dobândit Viaţa vesnică.

Tot aşa se intâmplă si cu fiecare om

în această lume. Ce se cere de la noi? Ca noi

să transformăm fiecare zi în veşnicie. Aceas-

ta este pocăinţa pentru noi, pocăinţa şi

lupta cu păcatele noastre. Păcatul să-l nimi-

cesc în mine; si când reuşesc aceasta prin

pocăinţa/mărturisire la părintele duhovnic,

dobândesc bucurie dumnezeiască. Iată-mi

veşnicia, iată ziua binecuvântată, iată ziua

pe care a făcut-o Domnul, iată biruinţa mea

asupra a tot ceea ce este muritor, asupra a

tot ceea ce este păcătos, asupra a tot ceea ce

este demonic.

Iată, să luăm exemplu, de la sfântul

pe care îl prăznuim în prima zi a anului, a

Marelui si Sfântului învăţător al lumii, a lui

Vasile cel Mare, Arhiepiscopul Cezareii

Capadociei, omul care si-a transformat tim-

pul vieţii sale pământeşi în

veşnicie. Priveşte-l pe el, dar şi pe toţi

sfinţii şi ia aminte! Cum a trăit el, cum în

fiecare clipă el transforma timpul în

veşnicie. Trăieşte şi TU în Biserica lui Hris-

tos (şi nu în afara ei) şi cu puterea ei

sfinţitoare şi a Duhului Sfânt, care se re-

varsă în lume peste toţi, transformă şi tu

timpul în vesnicie.

Fie ca Sfântul Vasile să reverse de la

Domnul credinţă mare, dragoste evan-

ghelică mare, rugăciune neîncetată, post cu

folos, milostivire, iubire de fraţi, iubire de

Dumnezeu. Cu ajutorul tuturor acestor

sfinte virtuţi să ne transformăm zilele şi

nopţile noastre în vesnicie, să fim şi noi,

atunci când vom iesi din această lume, cu

sufletele pline de credinţă, de dragoste si de

toate celălalte virtuţi, să ne înălţăm la Ce-

ruri şi acolo împreună cu toţi Sfinţii să-L

slăvim pe Domnul nostru cel Minunat, pe

Iisus Hristos, Căruia I se cuvine cinstea şi

slava veşnică. Amin.

Pe o faţă de masă, aşezati un vas cu apă

rece, o lumănare, o icoană sau o cruce şi lista

(pomelnicul) cu numele celor vii din familie.

Vă rugăm opriţi televizorul sau radio. Dacă

aveţi musafiri, explicati-le semnificatia

slujbei şi invitaţi-i să participe la rugăciune.

La sfârşitul rugăciunii, luaţi lumănarea şi

conduceţi pe Părintele prin camera, ca să fie

sfintite.

During the Feast of Theophany we also cel-

ebrate the Agiasmos or Holy Water Great

Blessing service. Remembering Christ’s Bap-

tism and cleansing of Jordan River, we ask

Him and the Holy Spirit to cleanse and sancti-

fy the water offered Him. Then the priest

takes the holy water and sprinkles the

faithful. To emphasize the reality, a

strong Orthodox tradition at the time of

Theophany is for the faithful to invite

the priest to their home to bless it with

the Holy Water. Thereby, the sanctify-

ing waters of Jordan are brought into

each and every home to make holy its

structure and inhabitants.

new Council and we need new ideas. The Nominating Committee for
