    Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem!

    behold, your king is coming to you;righteous and having salvation is he,

    humble and mounted on a donkey,on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

    I will cut off the chariot from Ephraimand the war horse from Jerusalem;

    and the battle bow shall be cut off,and he shall speak peace to the nations;

    his rule shall be from sea to sea,and from the River to the ends of the earth.

    As for you also, because of the blood of my covenant with you,I will set your prisoners free from the waterless pit.

    Return to your stronghold, O prisoners of hope;today I declare that I will restore to you double.

    P This is the Word of the Lord.

    C Thanks be to God.

    Epistle Romans 7:1425a

    For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am of the flesh, sold under sin.I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I dothe very thing I hate. Now if I do what I do not want, I agree with the law,that it is good. So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells withinme. For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For Ihave the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I donot do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing.

    Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwellswithin me.

    - 10 -

    So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand.For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, but I see in my membersanother law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captiveto the law of sin that dwells in my members. Wretched man that I am! Whowill deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through JesusChrist our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, butwith my flesh I serve the law of sin.

    P This is the Word of the Lord.C Thanks be to God.
